  1. Fair point, being able to claim back vehicle costs is a big plus. Clothing should be provided and you can claim back the cost off washing uniform if you're PAYE though. Mind you I've only been SE for five minutes! Sent from my SM-G930F using Arbtalk mobile app
  2. Is an employed persons wage not purely profit? Sent from my SM-G930F using Arbtalk mobile app
  3. I was under the impression that we all paid the same tax, 20%. Of course a SE person can claim back work related expenses, which wouldn't be incurred as PAYE. Unless you mean NI contributions being lower. As I understand out that's to cover lack of SSP etc Sent from my SM-G930F using Arbtalk mobile app
  4. I don't see why though. Provided everyone pays their dues and both sides are happy with the arrangement. Sent from my SM-G930F using Arbtalk mobile app
  5. I get that it can be a one sided arrangement for the employer a lot off the time, but it not always the case. If I were to work for one company full time I'd still rather do it on a self employed basis. A lot of climbers supply their own kit, and I imagine would prefer being able to claim their expenses back, set their own day rate, and effectively be in control of their time instead of the perks of employment like paid holiday, ppe etc. Sent from my SM-G930F using Arbtalk mobile app
  6. Or not declaring some of it Sent from my SM-G930F using Arbtalk mobile app
  7. Are you for real? I bet you're a joy to work with! For somebody who's been using a saw for perhaps a week, the gob looks fine. But perhaps you're right, they've wasted a square foot of softwood. They should be skinned in front of their families. Sent from my SM-G930F using Arbtalk mobile app
  8. That is deceptive... makes you look thin! Sent from my SM-G930F using Arbtalk mobile app
  9. 1-1.5m reduction in the pouring rain. Sent from my SM-G930F using Arbtalk mobile app
  10. I climb mostly so go from a 201 to a 441 with 20" bar. I've got a 60cc saw on a 15" bar for ground work but really its too heavy to be using all day. If I had to have one everyday saw for ground work it'd be a 50cc Husky with a15" bar Sent from my SM-G930F using Arbtalk mobile app
  11. How come? Looks like a straightforward fell. Sent from my SM-G930F using Arbtalk mobile app
  12. How!? Sent from my SM-G930F using Arbtalk mobile app
  13. If it makes your life easier is that not a win? If you but a loader for work to make life easier do you charge the client less? Sent from my SM-G930F using Arbtalk mobile app
  14. what are the freelancers using? Just started with xero but I have no basis for comparison. I like the idea of being able to sync with your bank account so you don't have to keep tallying payments. Sent from my SM-G930F using Arbtalk mobile app
  15. There's a couple of clips of my mates Sika on my Instagram. Joe_newton88 Very capable truck, although if you crash you are the crumple zone... Sent from my SM-G930F using Arbtalk mobile app

  21. Can also supply a 2 man crew with chipper for the above days. £400. Sent from my SM-G930F using Arbtalk mobile app
  22. Evening guys, had a job for next week fall through so i'm now free from Wednesday to Thursday. I'd be interested to great from anyone around the Rugby, Coventry area that could use a climber in those days! Sent from my SM-G930F using Arbtalk mobile app
  23. It used to be less but your mum paid me in cake. Sent from my SM-G930F using Arbtalk mobile app
  24. Not had any slipping issues with 11.0mm line. Can't really see how the can would wear considering the small use it gets. It might be that firmer ropes slip as the can doesn't bite down as hard as on softer lines. For instance tachyon is very firm due to its 2 cores, and the cam might not "squash" the rope as much as the velocity I use, which is quite supple and "squashable" by comparison. 25. On a similar note if anyone can point me to an insurance company, arb supplier or Greggs that doesn't charge I'd appreciate it. Sent from my SM-G930F using Arbtalk mobile app
