  1. And herein lies the issue... you're only interested when people agree.
  2. Ah, it appears that "in typical arbtalk fashion" I've missed the point!
  3. Its 9mm. I dont know why I couldn't ignore that. Marlowe rope is a terrible thing, used by people who don't know any better. I'm still bitter after a failed splicing attempt years ago. Those bastards just had to be unique in their construction. Glad you enjoy it though... You gone back to a prussik mate? Why!? Armour pruss do a 10mm cord which should be perfect. Can't imagine you'll find anything better.
  4. hard to say mate, but from reading a lot of Stefan's posts it would seem that being busy with work (by his own admission at the expense of those he holds dear) is his sole measure of success. In its own right, that's fine. To create a thread preaching THE way to "grow a successful business" without justifying the commitment comes across as self aggrandising.
  5. Stefan, I doubt you'll find that anyone is wishing you failure, seems like most (myself included) are just wondering if your incessant hard work is paying you well. The fact that you're avoiding the question could indicate otherwise. although you're perfectly entitled not to answer, you can't really be indignant either.
  6. The original title of the thread was "how to grow a successful business" Chessa. So far according to Stefan the way for us to become successful is to work every waking minute. That's easy to do, the hard part is making it worth your while, hence the questions.
  7. A lot of people mistake "successful" for "busy". Anyone remember the bloke chatting about his mate that ran a successful tree firm! Kept three lads busy year round but only made £25k a year.
  8. The ST8 is a blinding chipper, but I certainly wouldn't want to own one out of warranty!
  9. Any tipper will have problems that go with it. Look and see what the majority of firms are using. Transits are popular, reliable and cheap. They can make you a lot of money, although you might have to spend a bit on them occasionally. The company I started with some years ago still have an 03 transit going strong with 150k on it.
  10. Are you challenging the University of YouTube?
  11. well done. Sounds like you won your little feud. Ill sign off with something I read once: "Never argue with an idiot, they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience..."
  12. No, but if they had I'd drink it and laugh at the effort they'd gone through to be be passive aggressive.
  13. It's managed to keep most of then at bay, ill give you that. doesn't that just make you a bit of a gloating twat, intolerant of other people's viewpoints?
  14. I'd say that was quite explainable.
  15. Like I said, on the face of it I've no issue. It's not expensive and I'd be happier using my mix as I use the posh 2 stroke oil. I remember seeing that. Could you post it again?
  16. why do you think that should be? On the face of it I've no issue, for obvious reasons. however it's one moor thing to load in and out of the truck each day. I've enough off a job hauling a climbing kit, 3 saws, tool box, helmet and lunch bag (with first aid kit). It would definitely mean a second trip.
  17. A lot of this can be explained by anyone named Murphy.
  18. I'd be taking it up with the owner. Obviously it's helpful if their saws seized too, otherwise who's to say it wasn't something else. why should a freelancer have to mix and supply their own fuel and oil because a staff member can't do the most basic of jobs?
  19. I've been using the tsurigi 300 straight blade with large teeth for a while. Had the short curved one before that. The sheath is made of aluminium and super secure. Pretty aggressive cut which isn't always best if you're doing fruit tree pruning, but aside from that its a fantastic all rounder.
  20. I get wound up by people who make excuses for their cock ups. Accept you fucked up and move on.
