Really? I hate the thing. The krab is never facing the right way for an open caritool. It's fine if you chuck the saw and catch it by the krab, but for quick clipping it's a pain. I'm looking into making a bodge high clip point for my 2510. I think it'll involve araldite and a wire coat hangar. The missus keeps them in our "special drawer"

Being a "habitual beer monster" is no excuse. It is in fact an asset. I make a point of getting shitfaced the evening before a big dismantle. The tree comes down bloody fast. I tried it sober once, I'll never be so irresponsible again.

It won't affect the strength of it. Pop some leccy tape around it, you'll be fine.

Is a RADS system for ascent really SRT though? You're going from 2:1 with DDRT to 3:1 with RADS. Not much use for access either as you'd have to be at the top to set it up.

It's all relative mate. After a couple of years I felt like I was getting the hang of it. After 3 years I looked at myself at 2 years and laughed at how crap I was, etc etc. A few years in I think I'm doing alright, until I climb with someone who humbles me. The fact that you're your own worst critic will see you well mate, just keep learning.

Does winding it round a stick not give it a lot of memory? I find that unless there's debris in my cube or it's been put away badly tangles are rarely an issue. I only use it on big trees mind.

Is it? Also you'd have to lay your line out on the floor prior to throwing, which is a lot of faff, and it would inevitably get snagged on a twig once thrown.

It does but you need an extra drive link in the chain. They do, but only their chain fits the bar. The chain seems more robust. The kerf isn't as narrow but I haven't noticed any of these issues with it. -

2m RJ on this Cut Leaf Beech. The rain made it harder than it could have been.

Velocity is thinner than Blue Tongue. Blaze is also great. True 11mm so very "sporty". Can be too thin if you're a bit long in the tooth though

Samsung velocity works beautifully with the SJ. It's 11.3mm so proper skinny. It's the same rope Joe Harris was using in the Spiderjackery videos. With good technique you can self tend from the ground, with no slack beneath you. The key is feeding your rope directly down into the cam, as opposed to pulling down and sideways with a HC. As far as harnesses go I've got a TM with an extra knot tied to shorten the bridge. Works well for me.

A nice drive will calm you down old timer. 50mph in the middle lane with the indicator constantly on should do it.

True, but I'd have held off for the Akimbo if it was brilliant. The limbwalk drag is unfortunate. It's my only gripe with the wrench, so I'm not prepared to fork out for a device with similar issues. It was at Cutters and Climbers a couple of years ago when I saw you and Adam demonstrate the BDB's self tending and control. It looked impressive.

Fair enough Al, I hadn't considered that. I'm struggling to choose between the BDB and Akimbo. Think the Bone has the edge for me so far.

Out of curiosity, how many of your lads can fit on the front seat of a transit?

Doesn't look to be but why would you need to on SRT? If you wanted to you could fit one to your bridge. Where does it need improvement Ben?
