  1. How about an archery arrow quiver?
  2. This something I've wanted too. I was thinking of seeing if a couple of hammer holsters would do the trick? One of the longer leather ones, then a basic ring type one. Might do the job?
  3. Do people have lights up for Halloween?
  4. Drove past a house tonight that had lights on in their front window already! Anyone else seen any yet?
  5. We must of had 80-100 in the traps set in the garden this year! And they still decimated the peas and broad beans plus my ash and oak seedlings I had potted up in the greenhouse and my hawthorn seeds I had stratifying Must of had half a dozen of the lil blighters commit harakari in a mop bucket left with dirty water over night by the back door though lol
  6. I have just transplanted four young oak seedlings, I found growing in a cluster, by where I park my car at home. The nearest oak tree is about 400 yards away so I presumed it was down to a squirrel since Jays aren't that common around here and would of been too far for the millions of wood mice to carry acorns? Although the lil buggers managed to carry off about half a kilo of seed peas from the shed in one night last week! lol
  7. I was talking to a couple of young lads not long ago. They had both dropped out of college to work for a forestry contractor ( On the books). They were currently working on a contract up in Keilder. They told me they were working 13 hour days over the summer, digs were provided by their boss but he only paid them fuel money for the 300 mile journey and nothing extra for wear and tear or having their car wrecked on the rough forestry tracks. They had to buy their own PPE and he SOLD them saws to use,the 560 one of them was using, their boss WON in a timber sports comp! He did pay to put them through their CS32/34 tickets but on the agreement that they stayed with him for a minimum of two years (which is fair enough imo) Then they said they didnt actually know how much they got paid because they didnt have pay slips but they thought it was in the region of £5 p/h. There was a bonus on offer but they said they very rarely hit the bonus due to conditions. In my eyes they were both grafters and good cutters too. So if that's how it is for alot of other young lads trying to make it into forestry,I can see why there might be a shortage of good forestry cutters coming through because I can't see many sticking it out long term?
  8. I wasn't aware you could get type B trousers now, Only A or C?
  9. I last lost my rag in about 1997! I'd done a 14 hour shift at work and went straight round to my girlfriends to babysit while she went out on the lash. She came home at about 1am and I was flat out on her bed. I got woken up by being tipped off the bed on to the floor and led by the arm down stairs and out the door and door slammed on me! So in my sleepy daze I turned around and kicked the front door No damage to my foot but the door was snapped in half
  10. Really liking this song at the moment [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cm8R3VyU0_Y&feature=related]Lucy Spraggan - You're Too Young - (original) - Ont' Sofa - YouTube[/ame]
  11. I was just tucking in to my tea Then he started picking up the dog poo
  12. I'm sure that's the same listing I saw a couple of weeks ago, that I reported. Maybe it got withdrawn and now they are taking another punt?
  13. Done, Could do with some decent arb apps for windows! lol
  14. They have definitely increased their numbers around here! Can be a nuisance in winter when they sit in the middle of the road eating roadkill
  15. There are similar laws like that for Chester and Hereford . I was told that none of the public clocks in Chester are allowed to face east because they don't want to give the Welsh the time of day lol
  16. I think F.R Jones do 4 packs of Oregon wedges with 10% off individual price?
  17. I've noticed that our fruit trees have very few fruit this year and one pear tree has nothing. I know that the fruit started to form in spring but then we had some late frosts that decimated a lot of the forming fruit. Shortly after that we had some gale force winds which pretty much finished off the crops, we only have one apple tree with a decent amout of fruit and that is in a sheltered spot.
  18. I think the vans have been out in force all over the country because I just got caught too! First time in 18yrs! I got caught doing 38 in a 30 zone. I just saw the sign late and eased off started to slow and i was about 50 yards in the zone and saw the van 200 yards down the road, he must of zapped me straight away. On the same journey though a Caterham overtook me on a chevroned area, he must of been doing about 80. As soon as he was past me saw a bloke step out into the middle of the road in plain black leathers to wave him in, was a copper on an unmarked bike with just "Police" written in small print on the breast of his leathers! Not seen one of those around around here before.
  19. My other half is a very keen amateur geneologist and uses ancestry a lot. It is surprising what you can find out! She found a copy of a will from my great great grandfather who left £20000 around the the turn of the century. Shame he left it all to just one of his kids, so my direct descendant didnt get a penny! lol
  20. I'd of thought repairing the banks and relaying the stones would be a pain with the Pembrokeshire style? There's a new built bank and new planted hedge just outside Pembroke that I've seen, looks good
  21. I came across an article recently about an American woman called Fanny Banger
  22. Isn't it because if they announced the atheletes in English first the crowd would instantly cheer and drown out the French announcement, Or they would have to wait for the crowd to settle to do the French bit and would make it sound a bit disjointed?
  23. You will need to know all the safety feature on a saw for the CS 30. On the 31,take your time over the cuts, always double check your aim on the face cut and when you do the felling cuts always make sure you have a good stance before you start where you can see the front and back of the tree. you will also have you know the 6? DO NOTS when dealing with a hung up tree. Good luck
  24. Winching the bigger trees is pretty straight forward,9 times out of 10 they will come down pretty easily. Just occasionally you seem to get one that doesnt want to play fair and that's when you need your weetabix! lol
  25. Thanks David, I'll rule that one out then and keep looking
