  1. Keep cycling on the seat you have. If its a proper razor blade type one its pretty sore for the first few times, but your ass gets used to it. If you change to a big padded one you will find on longer cycles the blood gets cut off to your legs and you cramp up and have an even sorer arse. I probably wont be cycling for the rest of the year now (dark after work now) and every spring I have the same problem for the first 3-4 trips. Stick with the skinny saddle AJ
  2. Have you ever tried acupuncture? I have had it quite a few times in my neck, back and elbows. I can go in and not be able to turn my head, a few needles in the back and I'm like an owl! Its worth trying. Usually costs £30 a session, but my sister in law is a doc practising acupuncture so I'm like a test dummy for her. Works great for me though..
  3. Maybe this would be of interest to some. A bit pricey. It was designed for mountain bike trail builders. DAKINE Bike : Builder's Pack
  4. Hello Pete, I don't know about dry rot here on the islands. I've seen some wood from an old school being renovated here which is 125 years old which seemed fine. Other parts were rotten just from where water was getting in..I will ask some joiner mates if they know of any..
  5. There is a beach here in the treeless (apart from a couple of plantations)Outer Hebrides that is similar to that. There are tree stumps in peat on the beach which are probably 2-3 meters under water at high tide..
  6. I always drink High 5 Zero when I'm working all day with a saw. I used to cramp up all the time till I started on this. I started at first with it while mountain biking. I usually drink around 6 litres during work. Its a tablet you add to water, dead easy. A tube of 20 tablets is £6 which makes 10 litres if you want a strong flavour.High 5, Zero Active Hydration, Pre-Workout and Recovery at Discount Supplements Its an electrolyte drink which stops cramps and has no sugar so no problems for your teeth (aslong as you brush your teeth twice a day). Citrus and Berry are my favorite flavours, cherry is ming. You can get a flavour with caffine which tastes like Red Bull..Its great for a hangover too.. For energy I use Powerbar gels. Tropical or Banana and strawberry are not bad.. PowerBar, Power Gel, Pre-Workout and Recovery at Discount Supplements
  7. Is there any chance of reposting a couple of photos for those who didn't see the pics first time around?
  8. Thanks Phil
  9. Does anyone know where I can get hold of a forestry planner for a private landowner? It would probably be more suitable for someone in the Highands of Scotland as it is for a job in the Outer Hebrides. Thanks..
  10. I was working on thinning trees up 'till february when I got Tennis Elbow from lifting and dragging logs without tongs. I'm now 5 months later without picking up a saw and not being able to work properly because of it. Some days i need both hands to drink a cup of tea! Buy tongs and use them!
  11. I am in the Outer Hebrides, only a short ferry journey from Skye. We have two trucks with very low hours and good tyres. I could get pictures sent to you if you are interested. I just phoned my brother to check and he thinks the price of scrap from the islands is now up around £230 a ton. The scrappy pays to take it away too.
  12. Where are you getting that price from Stephen? We are selling quite lot of scrap. Anyone interested in two 4066 Terex dumptrucks in good working order? Sorry for hyjacking this post.
  13. Paul, what is the workshop covering? Is there a website with more details? Angus
  14. We got one of these on ebay. 5T pull with 25M of rope. It cost £250 though we had to bid on a couple first to win the bid. It seems pretty solid, though I haven't used it yet. Just finishing fitting it to a Scot Trac. Recovery Winch - 12000lb, 12v - FREE Wireless Remote | eBay UK
  15. Mendip, for 1k, you can get a very nice bike fron Cube. I have a Cube Ltd Race, great spec allround and pretty light too. I have had a bunch of bikes over the years and this one is a cracker! Don't go to Halfords, they don't know anything about bikes. Try an independent shop and usually you will get a discount if you ask for it. I got £100 off mine. Oh aye it should have been £1100..Brakes are great and good rolling tyres. http://www.cubemountainbikes.com/

    Shows

Hello all, I am kind of new here though I have been lurking through the posts for a while. I was wondering if there are any ARB shows around Scotland this year or have I missed them? Any help would be great. I could possibly make it to north of England or Wales. It takes a day to get to Glasgow so I'm a bit away from most places.. Great site!
