Beginning to think why I both to ask questions as never get a straight answer. Looks like there is no straight answer to this question talking on here. Been looking at more classification on road tax and have hopefully come up with the answer.

I was hoping to get some answers on here how others work it, as a lot of people on here use tractors, not to be stumped by more long winded answers. Which I have read on other threads and gov Web sites.

Would be interesting to find out if anyone on here knows. What I can't understand is when it's taxed agri you can drive it at 16 but if taxed anything else you may need different licence or even mot.

There is plenty of tractors used in none agricultural which are under 3500kg.

Even if tractor is just less then 3500kg,, I was reading no mot if less then 40kmph top speed.

So I have ran tractor under agri/Forestry but big change to work now more domestic at big properties, so need help to what I tax class I put it in. Tractor is 1984 top speed of 30kmph and only pulling 8ton trailer or chipper mounted on it.

When has cutting fire wood been agriculture yes it could be forestry only if cut in wood land. But not if in yard. -
And that MF will still be running when that Deutz needs a electric switch or box to make it go.

There's a lot of other bigger chippers with the same setup with big gaps. Did you find crack when doing blade change, would clean it of and see if there's any other cracks on the outer edge. Would only replace with new, as fitting second hand flywheel is a no brainer as not know what abuse it has had.

You maybe lucky, did a conifer about the same size a couple of years ago at a property that backs on to uncles farm. Tree owner wanted root out left truck about 8 foot high put land rover winch on it and pulled it over landed up with a hole 4ft deep 8ft wide, but there was about 3ft of top soil and was very light land. -
Here is the easiest way to make it one handed and easy changed back if lent to someone.

2 large conifers to be taken down, only got 1 done do to hydraulic hose going on digger, and guess what not the easiest to get to. Gave new chipper a good test.

You do need to find a big coach screw, think the one I used came off a electric pole. Can take a couple of attempts to get a good hold.

Post and rail you will find remains of post has not rotted enough to drive new post in same hole, it can be done if you can get tractor with thumper to drive new post down on top of old post or digger and just dig out old post remains and back fill, I have used large coach screw welded to a bit of steel, screw it into remains and then pull out piece and put new post in.

That's OK if that suits the work you do, spoke to someone how worked for someone how cut a lot of roadside trees all he had was hgv licence drove truck to site and then dragged a bit of brash about.

It was not that bad, customer was between having Portuguese laurel or yew and when i priced it up only about £200 in it. Customer did get a bit worried when we turned up with digger to trench ground I knew property and there was old road under part of ground were it had to go.

This is how garages make money because they have bought it at lower prices days or weeks ago and keep putting price up. -
At that price it's cheap if it runs, not many saws that size making on the second hand market for that price.

Any other trees to anchor winch to as would just straight pull it rather then mess about near base of pine with snatch block. If no other tree ground anchor.
