  1. PS another idea is to rough turn the bowls to about 1 to 1.5 ins and then leave them to dry and then re turn
  2. Nice piece of Elm One way which might help is to bind the upper edge with tape or a strap,to hold it together untill its dried but it will turn oval the other thing is just to let it do its own thing then fill in any cracks

  6. Hi Can anyone reccomend a food safe filler for filling cracks in bread boards etc Thought of all sorts of things but it will need to be food safe HELP
  7. Hi I'm sure it will warp and crack and iv'e explained that to the customer I can sort the warping out but she likes the idea of the cracks could be hard work

Hi Might seem like an odd request But does anybody local to Leicester have any Ash or sycamore logs that have bee drying for some time I have a customer who wants a bread board making from a 14 ins diam light wood.All the stuff i have is too damp and i have tried to explain that with it being end grain it will split easily but that is what she wants So can anybody help,needs to be drt abiut 14 ins diam and with the bark on# cheers

Hi Anybody interested in a yew tree in the leicester area I have been offered a yew tree which i am going to dee Saturday,But I have lots of yew already and unless its spectacular I can't dee me using it,so I thought I would see if anyone is intersted Its a bit vague I know but as far as i can tell the butt is about8ft and straight I will know more after I have viewed it but if I know somebody is interested before I go then I can let the Lady know cheers steve

I agree he Should not have to resort to these tactics but what sort of world are we living in if we daren't intervene Where do we draw the line .Would you intervene if it was something simple like this Would tyou intervene if it was a mugging a rape or murder I think I was supposed to live in a time long gone

Of Course he was right.Are we all going to sit around and let this happen He may end up in court but what a pathetic society we live in where we would all rather play safe and ignore all the bad things going on I know for one i am only a short ar!! but I couldnt let it go Perhaps I come from a past where nobody was allowed to get away with that sort of behaviour

Hi Mike I am pleased you get on well with the sauno kiln I just can't get on with mine How good is the door seal on yours,Logosol say that its the most important bit,and how did you seal yours Logosol are really good and have even offered me my money back but I would rather have the kiln working I think that mine is running out of water after just a couple of days and that means the wood is sitting in a fairly dry atmosphere at 70 degrees centigrade Any advice would be a real help cheer steve
  18. Hi Rob A lot of varnishes and lacquer can be affected by what you put on underneath the final coat Cellulose on top of acrylic etc but i bet you knew that anyway
