  1. There's more wood than the picture show. Having problems uploading picture
  2. Re timber for sale
  3. For some reason the other pictures didn't come through, will post again
  4. Approx 50 tonnes of mainly oak and a bit of birch. Good access. Pm for details.
  5. With all the forestry commission approval stamps etc kiln dried at 56 degrees c for 30 minutes. Amazing heat, no spitting, free and making me think softwood as the way forward.
  6. Bet your groundies love you. Not.
  7. Ginkgo biloba Prunus serrula Fagus sylvatica
  8. Looks a good splitter. What hp is the engine?
  9. Think of all the farmers, ruined crops, dead animals, all the homes without power, all the damage. They have a right to feel miserable, not us because we are stuck inside.
  10. So we all burn various amounts of labour intensive fuel. I get my fuel for free and process it all myself etc etc. if you moved house, would you do it all again, install a stove, build a log store, line the chimney.... I would....even though I know for most folk, it's bloody expensive unless it's free.
  11. Hi Jon it's a 12 kW burley
  12. Have a 3 bed bungalow and only use the burner for heating, not water. Reckon we've gone through 7 cube so far. Not had the central heating on. How much do you use per year?
  13.

  14. Andy Mac p is that a Chesapeake in your avatar?
  15. A text alert when someone replies to a thread you created? Maybe too complicated and costs money....just a thought
  16. I've recently had a thread about exactly the same subject. I applied second coat too thick and it simply wouldn't dry so had to use white spirit to remove it. However, the oil seriously brings out the grain and seems to work really well. I used the satin finish.
  17. We had a hycrack. They split anything, occasionally you would need to tap a knarly bit off but generally it was superb. You really do need to watch that wood EVERYTIME you feed it onto the spike. I never hurt myself, but by god, there were times I was bloody close. My fault of course, but my advice would be just be very very careful and you'll be fine. But like using a chainsaw really, treat the kit with loads of respect and you'll be ok.
  18. Hi, the olive board and a yew board are still very sticky. Tried wiping with a lint free cloth but just sticks and puts dust on the board. Been told to use white spirit to clean off and do again. Is this good advice? The board is 20% mc. Any help greatly appreciated!
  19. Great, thanks. I'll try that.
  20. Second coat of osmo has gone on, I applied it very thinly but it's still tacky, even after a few days. Any ideas? I have brought the board into the house where it's a lot warmer but still a bit tacky even after 48 hours?
  21. Me too. Does the thickness stay level by the tool, or by you holding the saw level? Looks a great first attempt. I imagine it could become a bit addictive
  22. Out of interest, how many logs do you get to a net these days?
  23. Agree totally. Ours pumps out approx 18 kw, but we are all open plan, the heat goes upstairs etc. If the room was closed no way would you need the bigger stove. Our room is also room sealed so all the warmth remains.
  24. Yep there the ones. It's the fact that the Burley are really efficient, plus the flame picture is superb. In my opinion, a really top stove for not top money.
  25. First coat of Osmo on today and what a finish already. Really brings the wood alive. Very pleased.
