  1. I live in a 70's house with a clay liner. What diameter are the liners, I'm thinking probably 6 inch but was curious to know if it was bigger could I drop a new steel liner down inside?
  2. So many people simply don't know how to light and use a stove properly. All fires need a good base to keep going. Having the primary vents open fully will burn the base of the fire out too quickly. It's a case of trial and error and she will soon suss it out. Maybe!
  3. I forgot to also add that splitting it was probably the easiest wood to log. I remember thinking if only all cord was this easy.....
  4. My opinion is that h chestnut burns like a dream when seasoned, spits when green but burns hot as u like in a stove when dry. Not as good as oak, of course, but a good burning wood when in a stove
  5. Exactly. " the axe is over there, the very heavy rings are there, your pathetic car won't be able to drive in the yard so you will have to barrow through to the boot. It's all yours , mate"
  6. No way. Don't even mention it. Bye bye. Get your wood elsewhere. No hard feelings, MATE (knob) see ya
  7. Or, just say, your the bleeding expert, sort your own logs out, MATE!
  8. 550? Seems cheap, is that a new one or used?
  9. Hi Jon, lots of folk say oak is this and oak is that, but knotty, dry oak in my burner is simply put, miles better than any other wood I burn, and I've tried them all.
  10. I've left oak rings for 3 years just out in the open and it's the best wood I've ever burnt. Never been covered, splits like a dream and burns hot as you like
  11. Doesn't look like 30 tonne to me
  12. Noticed a few days ok my chimney pot was cracked. By all accounts if the crack spirals round the pot from the base, likelihood is you've had a chimney fire. So my mate who's a roofer popped up there and said there was lots of crispy tar etc round the top of the pot, so we had probably had a fire without noticing. Anyway, swept the chimney straight away and only about half a cornflake bowl of soot came out, and that was after a really good sweep so how does the fire bit work, clean chimney and still a fire??
  13. Stubby, is your dog a Chesapeake bay retriever? Looks like one or just a labradoodle??
  14. Totally agree with tony. Whatever you do to the tree will promote new, obscure growth that will be manageable in the future so do what's best. I always think that trees, mature shrubs ALWAYS look better when cared for.
  15. Were you logging thin cord with your foot too close?
  16. Were you climbing or doing ground work?
  17. Rush, Rush, Rush, give up. You made a schoolboy error. No harm done, but don't defend yourself. Just admit, pretty much EVERYBODY Has agreed you should have had the dollar to pay there and then like EVERBODY does with a cash deal.
  18. The whole thread is based on a bloke saying to a bloke basically DO NOT SCREW ME OVER. It's happened before and once bitten twice shy....it's not rude it's business. We do not operate in a boardroom, so a deal is deal.
  19. Point taken Steve. You do a job, you finish it, customer is happy and they pay you. Sometimes you invoice them sometimes you don't. Any cash deal is paid straight away. They are the rules. Simples.
  20. The basics are that Rush was spoken to in a way that made the girly side of him come out. I get the impression he's a bit of a Frank Spencer but not as funny
  21. For goodness sake Rush get a backbone and MAN UP
  22. see ya
  23. Are you a bit simple as well NoRush:lol:
  24. You sound a little bit dim Michael
