  1. Don't you mean a gay little dog
  2. Dear Deirdre, can you please help me to Man Up. Honestly, thought this was an arb forum.....
  3. We have a hycrack. They are ok, but slow slow slow. Reckon on a good day you could split maybe 5-6 cube. You can't let your guard down for one second otherwise BANG, over she flips and your hand is history!!
  4. Bit of pitch won't hurt at all. Fire her up full heat and enjoy. Just make sure it's not a regular occurrence:thumbup1:
  5. Lucky to even get 2 cube there.
  6. I have an old yeoman exe, great stove, large firebox etc. I get a good fire going and then will burn anything up to approx 35 mc . (There's a thread on here somewhere where the chap is burning 35% pop and says it burns really well) anyway, I have my chimney swept every year and even though the stove is going constantly, I get about enough soot out to fill half a cornflake bowl. Sweep tells me that's really good,so begs the question about whats the perfect mc......
  7. Why on earth would you BUY in seasoned logs if your current stack was 25% mc. They burn just fine. All this rubbish about a few percent is ridiculous:thumbup:
  8. Reckon your are right, loyalty is rare. Have a few customers who always come back but if I was a buyer I would shop around until I was happy, then I'd choose the best seller. That process can take a good few years....
  9. Anyone have any experience of one of these? Log Splitter, Wood Splitter - Super Split®
  10. Like all the other replies, good luck and hope it all goes well. Got any proper advice for the small time log seller like me? Would be very interested in your opinion and experience. Thanks
  11. Do u literally put 10 cube in the container, light the stove, turn on the fan and shut the doors? What were the results like and what mc did you achieve?
  12. Free wood is the best wood
  13. Sales are slow this month, are people saying sod it, Spring is only round the corner?
  14. Doesn't look very gutsy. Wonder wht it would be like with anything remotely knotty. Reckon a x27 would be quicker on the rounds in the video:001_smile:
  15. What happens when you cut through the timber base? On the picture it looks like your half way there already?
  16. Good point there. We are in Surrey so not as much rain. Still, a good hardwood shouldn't rot that quickly. Was it birch you found rotted quickly?
  17. Reckon a test is due. In early spring, put 20 split oak billets on a pallet outside and 20 in the barn. Wait until end of July and measure MC. If no rain the day before, reckon outside would win hands down......
  18. So about 150 cube Timber, roughly....
  19. We are a small operation selling locally only and have sold about 160 cubes so far since September. It would be interesting to know what volume the bigger guys are getting though?
  20. That's fine. However, my wood, uncovered, left to the elements, is superb. Split and mc measured after one day indoors, is 20%
  21. Kiln dried!!! Cobblers. Leave it alone and she'll burn like a dream
  22. Clearly the outside mc was high, but when I split and tested cut face it read 22%. Again I split an old bit of pine from same pile, never been covered, burns like a dream.
  23. It could have been some lovely, slightly senile old boy who wants some wood to warm his slippers by. It's a one off, who really cares. If it happens all the time fair enough, turn off the phone. Big deal!
  24. I used to have a labourer working for me (landscaping) and he was the hardest worker I've ever had. I paid him 70 a day (cash) he did his own tax etc, and I would pay him a bonus at the end of certain jobs. £100 here and there and sometimes more. You could ask your boss if he was happy with your work and based on the reply see if there was room for a raise or an incentive that would earn you more money. If he says no, look for something else.
  25. Am burning wood that as never been covered. Went to the yard, wiped the snow off and split it. Oak and beech, ringed a year ago and left to the elements. Thought I try it out. Stove burning like a dream.
