  1. i just google my ram sizes n pressures etc to get the tonnage .As for the ram its a bucket tilt ram of a jcb and the hyd tanks of a dumper truck engine is a honda gx340 11hp off a gennerator all made to bolt on off to betterfie later i,ve had it running at over 5500 psi the two welded rsj,s bend and the ram starts to bannana so i,ve set it up with the relief valve coming in at 3200/3300 and its working fine i just need to change the 3 high pressure feed pipes so it will work faster without having the engine working over half revs
  2. i,ve been using a very old stihl 024 i got of ebay £75 covered in drips & runs of black paint lol it just runs and runs and runs all day no fuss etc and ticks over forever waiting till i pick it up to work and rev crispy i know its small but it works for me cutting my logs to the right size ready for when i want some to split for my fire lovit
  3. thanks geoff its been good for me to keep my eye on the ball so to speak even if it only gets used once in a while its a good talking point if i get visitors as they will wonder what its for etc and gives me something to do splitting my logs only as and when i need them otherwise if i do a big pile all nice n ready to go they may get nicked from my plot etc it needs painting etc but i,am thinkin leave it as is so it looks tatty i,e not worth anything etc >>> less chance of theives thinking they have more of a right than me etc
  4. no 17 gpm should be quick if its to fast i will just fit some smaller flow restricters fittings but at least the engine wont need to be revving its pants off etc as its all been made from bit,s n bobs all s/h so dont want it to destroy itself or overwork the engine its been fun building it well her shes called matilda mk1
  5. Well i think i,am almost about done with my build now" & cant wait to try it out! all i,ve done in last few weeks it sit looking at it in my garden chair and modifiying the things i,am un happy with etc now the only thing thats bugging me is getting the propper hydraulic pipes made so it will be fast aswell as strong its producing 3200 psi any more than this and things start to bend a bit lol i have had it working over 5300 psi at first but the twin rsj,s i,ve welded together dont like it lol so i,ve turned it down and done a google search to work out its tonnage and i,am getting around 32 ton but like i said its slow as i,am running it on my portapower pipes only 3/8 bsp but will upgrade them to 3/4 bsp so i will get around 17 gpm oil flow then i will let you know how i get on when i finally get round to trying it out etc its kept my mind busy which cant be bad even if i never use it much etc at least i feel like i,ve done something worthwhile and say to myself see that there i built that out my own head no plans or help all on my own makes me feel good just to look at it i know you all think i,am maaaaaaaaaaad but i,am going forward not backwards and it keeps me out of trouble too

  8. thanks very greatful for your kind offer and post sorry mines late coming back i get very down at times and just lurk around the forums reading etc its hard to put into words what i feel but since i got my single phase welder here it what i,ve made from scrap parts when the mood takes me all done on single phase outside my back door out the way from the stress,s of day to day life its been a pain as its not half a dirty job grinding welding etc i,ve buggered one of my kitchin windows with the sparks whooop,s to late now oh and set fire to my jumper with the grinder too" fed up brushing up bits of welding rods and grindin muck to it dont get tramped through house i used a old forklift fork (THICK GOOD STEEL ) pre heated with my friends burning gear to get a good strong weld down with low hydrogen rods
  9. just tried 5 carry bags of dry dead chipped wood last two days and its got my kettles bubblin away nice on my coalbrook severn no problems i just fill a carry bag tie a knot and throw it over burning logs n shut the doors burns nice

  11. Just been moochin on screwfix website and noticed echo chainsaw 5yr warranty thats a wow from me who else give that sort of trust in a saw Echo ECCS310ES 30cm Petrol Chainsaw 30.5cc | Screwfix.com
  12. cut the pipe off at the nut and use a socket
  13. point taken ben about single phase but not everyone has 3 phase etc i,ve had no problems with tripping out the lecky with my stick as its only drawing at max amps 30 amps and as my house has a 100amp feed its not a problem and have been welding fabricating 35mm thickforklift forks together to use in my log splitter build with same rods that built the m6 thelwall viaduct e7016 rods low hydrogen if i want to burn the rod well in i do a run about 20mm then whilst its still hot run backwards over same run and another tip on rusty steel use a 6013 rod do a run of weld to bring all the cack out the steel grind back the slag out then do a run with either e7016 or e7018 rod and you will end up with a very very strong weld @ 70000 lb psi the steel will rip before the weld gives out
  14. you would be far far better off buying a second hand ebay AC OIL COOLED stick welder and a box of 2.5mm e6013 rods you will be able to weld outside with the wind n rain etc. You will pick a decent 180 amper single phase for £50/60 and will out last you no matter how hard you use it as long as you have a 30 amp supply it will weld anything you throw at it i have both a 180 mig for thin light steel indoor use no fumes and a 180 amp stick stay clear of the buzz box welders as they have a very short duty cycle and will keep trippin out when they get hot as a oil cooled jobby will weld all day and never cut out for same amount of money and you will get a far better weld too very easy to strike up better arc control too
  15. oh dear wait for the cut all the trees down brigade

  20. I won these fair n square £21 no reserve and the cheeky sod,s relisted them and then asked me for £100 for a pair of scrap forks that i wanted to reduce for my log splitter i,am making grrrrrrrrrrr makes my blood boil i,ve told the guy to stick,em even if they where free now etc as i dont like how he works ebay please read his add no reserve etc and then he puts a reserve on at the end of auction so i,ve reported it to deff ebay as usual i wont get a responce from them forklift forks, Scrap Metal !!! | eBay
  21. i cant keep up with the fat balls now that the birds have found the feeder hung in the woodstore and as my wood shed only been up a year i,am hoping that i get a few nests this spring i just hope any stay cats dont get at any nests as my woodpile is almost to the roof with a foot air gap etc and on that note i was thinking i had too much wood piled up in the to season etc but i moved a load today and its tinder dry and is very light in weight quite pleased and shocked how well its all doing i have the use of my mates 4ftx4ft covered trailer i use it to store my logs up my driveway n when its empty just tow back to my plot and reload i feel so lucky to have the use of said plot trailer and somewhere to go feed watch the birds etc and chop some firewood for next year gettin fed up with the axe mallarky thats why i,am building a splitter when the mood takes me
  22. i love the clacky ones that take a few good snorts to either get stuck on your top lip or ends up at the back of your throat it looks like a big scab when it gets gobbed out
