  1. I,ve used the save edge files tonight and the outcome is the file has been re invented there by far a better file to use than the oregon files i have thanks rob made up cheers there fantastic
  2. good point but are the front sidlights working or arn,t they on a differant fuse some trucks i worked on had a fuse for left side lights and one for the right etc maybe a fuse if the trailer lighting cable/plug has shorted out ie crushed a trailer light squashed a bulb holder etc ?? good luck and hope you get it done soon dark nights and coppers on the prowl looking for easy targets £££££££££££ ps i got myself a trailer lighting plug tester its male/female so you can check the vehical aswell i got mine from towsure on the net very handy as its all led lights tell you whats not working etc
  3. some very good advice here i use to look after to ford cargo,s same lights etc and there well known for being a bit poo bad earths bad spade connectors/ bulbholders are always rotten through dirt ingress not a very good light and from what i remember you had to make sure the lens was fitted back into its rubber before the outside clip/retainer was put back inplace or the lamp was,nt waterproof saltwater/winter/dirt/wet kills,em in no time i also had a ford in to repair and it had hazards but the indicator side was mad i ended up changing the ind stalk/switch as for towing wiring red >> stop brown>> right sidelight black>> left sidelight yellow >> left ind green >> right ind blue >> fog white >>> earth oh and i just remembered i think some of the earths on the ford trucks are brown not black wiring a lot of cars from europe are brown also i,am talking about the truck now not the trailer wiring as thats white lol
  4. your bench looks like a plane crash lol and the welders a buzzbox not a welder dont want to offend just joking yes ya need a welder i,ve got thicker cables on my jump leads lol being serious though i was told the small buzz box,s have a unstable arc and very short duty cycle too
  5. lol theres me thinking the same thing but i use the stick welder to get rid of the kack then grindback espesh if its been galvanised also was told to go back over a run of weld whilst its hot as in forward and inch back n inch as iam only on single phase myself so just trying to get the best i,ve got to work with but then again the inverter welders sound like the re invention of the wheel all positive answers so invertor seems the way to go
  6. i quite fancy a go with an inverter welder too" as i,ve never had the chance yet but kays welding near me have them and said the same as you there years ahead of the old stick or mma welders i just wish i had 3 phase here at home as there seems to be more choice with s/h welding machines etc as i,am currently using 32amp supply from my shower cable as i,am lucky the bathrooms at the backdoor so got a 32amp plug bridged into it hidden away in the antispace/cloakroom so at £50 for a s/h 180 amper that will weld allday will do me and if i was closer you would be more than welcome to use it anytime
  7. thats why i,ve ordered a couple box,s from rob as i feel the oregon file polishes more than actually files but not all the time thats on oregon chains though also i have some stihl chains but not got round to using them yet so cant coment but back to the oregon files on oregon chain i can see very quickly in the sunlight the file starting to polish up and lose its bite so to speak even though i turn/tap the file etc but also find the cheapo benchgrinder i have wants to take too much off too fast to hot etc but has its place in my shed to recover a mullerd chain but it does seem greedy on the cutters so on that note mines a file everytime
  8. i have a friend who really rates the inverter welders i,e welding outside in the wind with a stick not a problem . It was 6mm steel if its a quick repair need it back on the road etc" then its a stick welder as it will weld over most mucky surfaces but if its got to be all nicey etc then best welding inside with a mig much faster etc but the jobs got to be clean no rust/paint/wind/grease. I sometimes weld the cack out with a stick grind it back out then reweld as its still hot to get a better stronger weld 6013,s for mildsteel 7013,s for its got to be strong for high stress stuff but as you will know you can also get different mig wires too and i may be wrong its all low hydrogen thus a stronger harder weld
  9. i got a oil cooled oxford stick welder £50 from ebay but you would be best on a 16 amp supply but will weld all day 7 days a week etc for thick stuff
  10. i cant take a bench grinder with me lol i also have bought a 12v jobby grinder off rob but only to recover a chain thats been through stone/steel nails etc so to dress up when things start getting dusty i spend 10 mins and a brew with a decent file ps i would,nt waste a rusty nail to hang a carlton chain in my shed either
  11. my god son is an industrial electrician and tells me to buy hilti all the way he works all over the country and him and his work mates also rate the hilti
  12. well thankyou david for your coment & yes it does split anything i put through it but to play safe i,ve turned the hydraulic pressures down a tad as the twin i beams that i welded together start to flex downwards on knotty stuff sometimes so all i do is flip the log and split from the other end of the log i,ve got it running slow engine rev,s about a day n a bit on a gallon petrol and as its for my own firewood i,am in no rush to abuse it etc full revs fast firewood i like to plod along and watch my firewood pile grow lol
  13. no side in the green house god knows where its gone" ask him if you see him blowing past will,ya my mate john neighbour who helps with the log collecting we are both log fairys etc he,s lost his dry verge and come across a tree down but only half way across the road resting on a wall house down the road no ridge tiles and nowhere to be seen made or red shale ask god if you see him also no sheeting left on my wood pile /sidecurtains off a artic trailer given up for today sheeting rain oh and dont laugh a office desk blown across the road just as i went out to the shop in my jeep then one of the drawers further down in the middle of the road lol and about 20 ton of leaves cant make there mind up which way to go lol
  14. thats what my meters say OL i take that as my woods good enough :001_rolleyes: JUST LOL
  15. oregon grease gun works for me too
  16. i think its very important to choose the best>>> whats the saying buy cheap buy twice etc. I,ve asked and read other posts regarding files etc and took the advice from others that have posted and now carry a few oregon and some save edge ones but not used/compared any yet so cant coment how good they are or whats bestist lol
  17. thats why i use two meters likewise its firewood so near enough does me am i ok to use the stihl moisture meter as i bought it new from amazon ??? or do i have to bin it and go to skylands in liverpool for a new one
  18. MARK i have a stihl moisture meter and only push mine in enough not to damage the prongs/meter as the prongs are mounted into a plastic housing so would,nt advise pushing all the way in i would go for as far as you think resistance wise as it all depends on what wood etc and also split a lump of wood then test in the middle not the ends of the log for a true reading
  19. was,nt the a link with bee stings and painful joints i watched a program on tv a few years back about it working with great sucess
  20. thats why i have to take meds i got 2 crushed discs in my neck tried allsorts no luck but only been on naproxen a week and started to walk straight lol instead of walking like a chimp with my undies full of clay lol its not funny no grip in my right hand pins n neddles etc and lowerback agony left leg wonky like you say nerve damage
  21. loadem in builders bags and pullem off with the lifting straps so they roll off upside down then pull the bag off the pile of logs works for me
  22. 500mg naproxem works for me twice a day for aches pains etc i cant get down stairs somedays i get so stiff in my joints not sure you can order off the net my doctor sorts mine out
  23. i have 2 so i can compare etc but as time goes by experiance will take the place of the meter & dont want that to come across as a brag but you,ll know when the woods dry enough cracks weight time etc etc i think sometimes this wood malarky gets very confusing you will know if or when its ready by its looks and cracks on the ends etc i was also told once you can tell by sound too by clonking two pieces together also never tried that one though
  24. i,am so glad your ok ash you must keep your eye on the ball so to speak" as you have been very very lucky food for thought & how you,ll do it next time etc maybe a wake up call for you and how your using your saw take care mate keep safe
  25. the problem with ebay is that they always take the buyers side of the story so you may be in for a returned buggered saw and ebay will award the buyer a full refund its happened to me even though i stated no returns acepted etc and pick up only so the guy could try before he parted with his moneys but he just orginised his own post etc and on him recieving the item went into disput saying it was smashed i,e item not as discribed etc so i ended up with no money and a buggered item sent back busted by the postman i guess so if i sell on ebay thesedays its cash only no paypal and collection in person only
