  1. Well rock , maybe the way to go then spare parts are just round the corner but try and go for a road towable one if funds let you but so far the rock one i used was ok but then again i have not used any others to compare but think they have some videos on youtube
  2. aww thanks for the quick replys i,ve learned even more about saws today very greatful sorry to mither now again but should i got for semi or full chisel please and also do you find certain makes of chain suits this type of bar better than others expanding when warm etc ??
  3. i grease mine oregon,s that is the stihls dont have one as far as i know so i just give,m the oil can when i,ve scraped the bar groove out or when i,ve had a chain off flipped the bar etc i just feel i,am giving something back to the bar n chain lol it runs smoother by hand afterwards and i suppose if grit does get in its being forced back out by the fresh grease nothing ventured nothing gained the holes there to be filled its not there to eat grass lol
  4. now then andrews sorted me out with a 404 sprocket and a brandshiny new 25" bar pt numbers stamped into bar is 11923 then below numbers 2563b0321 i,ve had my feeler guages in the bar and its just a tad over 1.6 mm so how on earth do i match up a chain do i go for 1.5 404 and 80 dl or 1.6 404 84 dl has anyone got any info on this bar please as i,ve done a google search and got nothing back even from the oregon webbsite so how on earth do i go about match up a chain please help
  5. my good friend sean has a 27 ton one from rock machinery i think it was £12/1400 i,ve used it a few times its a petrol version by the way uses about a gall a day all depends how hard you work it etc as i,am just a plodder and dont punish machinery anyway he,s had it a couple years now no problems at all i also think rock have a website too and have new models coming out all the time check them out

  7. to all the experts on strokers the subject being timing when i were a lad and had bought an old tired field bike say a kx crosser or down to a ts125/250 suzi me and my mate was taught from an old gent cos we had no moneys so had to club together to by one etc. instead of throwing money at pots/piston/rings front sprocket we use to advance the timing a nudge and lift the carb needle a notch some worked out really well some were still sad and it got me thinking does anyone or has anyone played around with the timing on a chainsaw to get it to torque up a tad" only a thought going through my blank mind lol when a saws getting tuned up or just tired out and no moneys to go all out get new etc i know its going over to a gray area where some think its a no no but has it been done ?? on a saw

  14. i had 2 had is the word everytime i wanted to use one it broke one way or another but saying that they were both given to me oiler on one was pooped and the other well i just lost it one day and threw it as far up the yard as i could it was a pain to start and then the recoil gave up so ebayed,em off sorry i had just had enough of them failing on me but like i said they were free and was when i had just got a logburner so was keen to get my log pile going so was happy to have them

THIS WEEKS BEST ARBTALK AWARD GOES TO MR ANDREW SHAVEY ESQ for going out of his way for me and helping get me sorted out with a bar n sprocket sorry spud mate you was pipped at the post by shavey lol for the carb diaphram directions it was very close though as if the power head was kaput the bar would of bee usless but then the sprocket came in so greatful everyone for the posts >>>>> now then what chain should i choose now theres so so many lol

  19. thanks andrew its oiling ok now as is untouched its got a small master cylinder fitted under the trottle linkage so when i rev it it pumps oil at same time etc and theres an oil pipe running from crank case to presurise the oil tank thus delivers oil to where the bar mounts but can also use the manual pump to when its being used etc
  20. andrew thats fantasic news thanks i cant thank you enough i will pm you my email address to pay etc ps i,ve got the saw running really well now with the fuel system re cleaned out again and a new diaphram kit fitted to the tilloson carb the saw idles better now and revs as it should & i,am going to service strip clean out the oil tank pipes etc its going to make a really nice project for me keep me out of trouble and cant wait to see the lads faces next time i go picking arb waste up and get the saw out to use etc should be a laugh when i sit it next to there 95,s 661,s 880,s lol thanks andrew again very very very greatful your a gent and hope i can one day do the same for someone else cheers

  22. do they have a sediment/seperator/filter on the inner side of the chassis rail drivers side near back axle as i did one years ago it was clogged up with allsorts gunk
  23. like already mentioned could of been worse someones son someones dad its a blessing its just the truck etc we live we learn by our mistakes i,ve seen people a lot older drive into floods and get stuck car ruind etc but bet they wont do it again eh!
  24. back out man shed now!!! & made up solo t rex dyna saw lol runs again made up. I even found old serial no 4275 so going to register it on vintage chainsaw website brill like a big kid now just waiting for a bar n sprocket where would i be without arbtalk and the guys on here thanks for all the help/advice made up cheers she,s a little ripper
