  1. is,nt there someone who could copy the method how they cut up ships subs on the seabed to recover them i think its a chain idea but on a massive scale bigger to cut through anything etc or even i hydraulic ram achored with chain forced through like a log splitter ?????? as the porta powers go upto 10.000 psi so dont think any tree stump would survive that force or maybe a rig with a bottle jack to burst it open with chains and a wedge

  17. THANKS I WOULD BE VERY GREATFUL i havejust been rooting on the net etc and acording to some folk depending on build year some as already stated had 404 chain fitted but the sprocket is the problem i think as stated red sprockets a 7/16 i live in hope thanks for the help so far i,am hoping to fit a decent size bar on it and a regular chain size too so when if needed i can use it with care lol
  18. just been on oregon site no bars or sprockets OREGON®: Selector Guide so unsure about the chain aswell till i,ve sorted a decent bar/sprocket it looks like i may have to modify a bar to suit thats not a problem to me but the sprocket chain matching going to be a pain me thinks
  19. i would love to see a propper log screw in action as the one i had was a complete waste of time i spent more time winding it backwards to get the wood off as the whole diesel powered unit was underpowered geared fast and very low power and flicked belts off for fun it also had my hand a few times so went on the bay i sold it as a load of tosh and got loads of interest funny what people want to buy etc even though i told,em its faults a bloke from yorkshire won it so also had a long round trip to pick it up etc and he also trapped his hand blood all over it lol but still payed up lol maaaaaaaaaaad
  20. just remembered someone wanted measurements sorry forgot to stick a steel rule near it etc has anyone got any info from oregon what bar/chain suits not so sure about the sprocket size but its 7 tooth forgot again silly me its been sat under a tool bench for 25 years and the last time i had a look it was,nt as scratched up as its been stored with other tools/saws grinders etc etc but hoping to get it working again i allready know the engines good to go its just the bar/chain /sprocket thats holding it back i cant wait to use it like a little lad with a new toy lol
  21. rite read your posts i,am going to get something to eat been out all day splitting logs etc ive been and picked it up and will get some pictures up etc then with the help from you boys i can sorce a bar sprocket chain etc
  22. cheers alec i,am going to pick it up later and will do some pics with a measure inc also the engine number sproket bar mounts/sizes etc thanks made up bit of light for the saw shame its sat unloved unused as i only have small saws 024/260,s i had a large load of pop to do pictures in the overloaded posts of the said pop and had to borrow a saw to suit an ms661 2 weeks old i felt bad having to ask a borrow etc and as it was the first time i needed a saw with a 25" bar on 3 years i should be ok with this for the odd big lump and also keep the saw alive so to speak thanks again guys going out to pick it up and do some splitting now speak later with pictures of saw etc cheers
  23. thanks for the posts yes its got a red sprocket but the bad news it the paint is rubbed off the bar and also the bar is kippered i,ve just been told on the phone its been run with no oil pumped onto the chain etc but the good news is he has another full saw that runs but has to swap the recoil over of the good condition one it does really look like new for a very old saw . So on that note i,am now looking for a bar and chain for this saw also i hav,nt got it here with me but going to pick it up later i,am unsure what to do about the sprocket or what bar fits now etc greatful for the quick posts thanks as i would love to get it usable again
  24. stop chuckling before you read this please Right my good friend has a solo rex hidden away looks like new to be honest he bought it years ago at a farm auction in cheshire about 30 years ago at least he still has the bar to it but no chain and i,am interested in getting it back together and usable as its a shame to see it sat forlorn under his workbench un used etc i cant get over how much compression its got its a real thumper when running being a 125cc manual pump and hard nose bar fitted now the problem is where on earth could i get a loop of 7/16 chain from to suit it new s/h does,nt matter as i would love to try it just for the fun factor i know i,am mad lol for even trying but love mauling with old stuff and getting it to run again even my radio,s are all valve 1955/56 ish this saw seems to be around 1958 on the net research an all that so has anyone got anything please that will suit i would be very greatful thanks
