  1. Mark, that must be Two chips off the old block!. Are your kids home schooled as well? easy-lift guy
  2. You sir are correct:thumbup1:. The teachers can only do so much and playing catch up while the rest of the class is ahead for the sake of parents and scheduling and funds available to take holidays, Enough! Its all about choice and your kids future. How the parents want to handle it is a matter of exercising common sense and putting your kids education on the front burner. Kids don't deserve to be left holding the bag, again!. BTW, Stop fining the parents for their children not attending school. Make it simple by having a mandatory number of days per school year. Not enough days to complete your school year, than summer school for the student, or just hold the student back another year. Absents due to illness would be permitted, within reason:sneaky2: easy-lift guy
  3. Spud you are 200% correct. I once saw a Bald Eagle swoop and grab a very large Walking Catfish while traveling here on SR 776 heading to Port Charlotte, FL. This fish was at least 18 to 24" long and although at first sight I though it was fresh road kill, within a few seconds after the perfect snatch from the air took place it was all the Eagle could do to clear the tree line and feast on a big meal. And yes we do have walking Cat Fish here in Florida! Another invasive species that have a limited natural predator list and are very destructive to fresh water ponds and lakes since they consume all other species of fish and when done mearly crawl out on their Two lower dorsal fins to their next meal ticket. easy-lift guy
  4. Appearances can be deceiving. Considering that the rescue was performed by a trained volunteer and that the bird was obviously sickened from eating dead and dying fish, I believe the bird knew exactly what the score was and was relieved to be off the ground and on his way towards a positive recovery. I will be contacting the wildlife sanctuary later this morning for an up date. With rain forecast for the balance of today I suspect if Free Birds recovery continues he may be released sometime next week, I hope. Thanks again for all the positive comments about this thread. easy-lift guy
  5. I base my statement on living and attending school here in the USA. I have seen many students over the years here in the USA that really should have stayed in school instead of having vacations during the school year. Most would struggle to catch up, however like I did state earlier if the teachers can provide a lesson plan for the students to follow and than turn in their assignments either by electronic means or upon return from their holiday I have no problem with that. I still have a really big problem with the school extorting money from parents who's children are on holiday with their parents:thumbdown:. easy-lift guy
  6. No problem Perry, civil cases here state side usually involve fines and settlements, criminal can mean jail time, fines. I have served twice and for the privilege and the experience. The compensation was never a question. Knowing that our legal system continues to work was well worth the effort. Ironically the last judge was speaking with a Yorkshire accent and after the completion of the trial I had to ask him where he was from originally? Sure enough I was correct, York. Johnny wood picker would have been proud. easy-lift guy
  7. Egg, I forgot to ask earlier is the case criminal or civil? easy-lift guy
  8. Good point. The patient last time I checked was eating and being treated by a trained vet that specializes in the treatment of all birds big and small. I hope to have another update soon, thanks for enjoying. easy-lift guy
  9. I truly do hope that you are correct in so many ways:thumbup1: And of course your Avatar is truly SPOT ON!! easy-lift guy
  10. I find that the local produce shops have the best kindling especially the banana boxes which a wax coated:thumbup1:. Planning vacation time during and around work and school schedules can be very challenging. My mother and father would travel to Florida in the winter months to leave the NE Winter and enroll my sister and I in school. When my father finally retired Florida became my home and remains the same to this day:thumbup1: More time than not if money is tight and generally it is:sneaky2: stay at home vacations are a choice, the expense is much lower and scheduling is less stressful. There is a lot to do and see here so it would also depend on the local and economy. easy-lift guy
  11. Unless the schools can provide a lesson plan to be completed by the students and checked by the parents while on Holiday, I am personally against taking a vacation or holiday during the school year. Vacation, or holiday should not be used during the school year since this time can not be made up and could jeopardize the students future education. Fining parents is a stupid money grab IMHO and will only lead to more frustration on the part of the parents and the students. The students will once again be left holding the bag since their parents vacation time and schedule may take precedence over their school time and future. easy-lift guy
  12. Happy to share. I am fortunate to live near and around a strong population of at least 5 different species of birds of prey. Truly remarkable examples of nature. easy-lift guy
  13. Egg, that is good news. Your more or less a paid witness for the defense which is not unusual. The professional witness are the ones that can be annoying. I hope your customer will prevail. easy-lift guy
  14. So I am at HQ and I received a call from Kim. Seems that A Bald Eagle had landed in our back yard. Under normal circumstances this may not seem odd except it was not actually a Bald Eagle, it was instead a Osprey which is smaller and also in the Fish Eagle Family, AKA a fish hawk. It seems that this time of year with Red Tide, a naturally occurring Alga Bloom found in the Gulf of Mexico birds of prey can and will eat infected fish and their toxicity levels spike leaving these really beautiful birds in a very bad way or worse with out a little help from Man. Rodger, the man in the Picture holding Free bird, named by Kim works as a volunteer for The Wildlife Center of Venice. The rescue went well and so far Free Bird is recovering with antibiotics and lots of fresh uncontaminated fish to eat. I hope to post a video of his release in our back yard shortly hoping that he makes a full recovery. FYI Free Bird is a Young adult, The American Bald Eagle is Twice the size of the Osprey pictured. easy-lift guy
  15. Better him than me. This time of year that part of the state can be an absolute nightmare day or night. I hope he has a nice time. I can think of nicer places in the Sunshine State than there. easy-lift guy
  16. Bob I think your kids have been introduced to the world of phycological warfare by electronic technology while never leaving the comfort of home. Like you said for rightly or wrongly only time will tell how kids will grow and mature from a mental and physical state. I would be curious how your brothers children will progress say in the next 5 or 10 years compared to your own children? easy-lift guy
  17. Where would that somewhere over there be located? easy-lift guy
  18. Since I sell my products around the world staying connected and meeting my customers needs has been easier than pre internet and cell phone days. I could go back to a simpler time and will be forced to once the net collapses. Fortunately I can remember how to still conduct business by phone and mail if need be. For a lot of other people left wondering what has happened, there lives as they remember it will be in store for a C change for sure. easy-lift guy
  19. Jon, did you just fall down too? easy-lift guy
  20. Hi, penfold that is positive news. 3 million £ is roughly 4.5 million USD. Not chump change, however a good beginning. easy-lift guy
  21. Remarkable with an aging population I find it fascinating that most members that have replied to this thread don't understand there getting older every day. I have been on one cruise and had a nice time old and young alike and families. Went to the Bahamas. more than enough to eat, drink both adult and non adult beverages. easy-lift guy
  22. The key to keeping magnet signs on your vehicle or truck is to have a clean waxed surface at all times. This simple act will keep the sign better affixed to the metal. Otherwise the sign will fall off and you will have lost your advertising investment. easy-lift guy
  23. The only problems with falling world oil prices are two realities fixin to kick in. First at least here state side state governments are complaining that fuel tax revenues, I mean theft is way down due to the cost of raw material continuing to drop and a glut of finished product not being used fast enough. This means higher oil and fuel taxes in the future, or at least talk of it. Once the taxes are raised they will not be rolled back and the misery will return at the pump and else where. The Second is the slightly longer term question about how long the house of Saudi can continue to attempt to put as many if not all of the fracking businesses out of business here state side and abroad. The Saudis had 1 trillion USD in reserve to temporally continue to pump and sell at the current world price, however that money is now gone and from what I have heard for the first time the Saudi government is now offering bonds for public purchase to continue to fund their economy and regain a monopoly status on the world oil market. I have read that the Saudi Government has about 10 years left to accomplish their goal and with 3 to 4 years into their time table left I don't think things are going according to plan fast enough. Enjoy the prices while you can and even take pictures of the prices since ones memories may not last as long as the current pricing at hand. easy-lift guy
  24. You should be hibernating by now anyway. I hope you have a good winter all the same. easy-lift guy
  25. I really resent customers that actually believe they can get away with the bait and switch with me by thinking I should grant them some sort of discount for future work and or orders. I also believe that the customer that gave you a check and made the payment in your company name even after you requested the check be made in your name was just being spiteful and mean:thumbdown: easy-lift guy
