    V8 disco, likes a drink but touch wood very reliable, I am always In a forest so 4x4 is a must only have to carry clearing saw and chainsaw, plus I can do the school run with it.

    I have a few saws one of them is the ms 170, like other people have said keep it sharp and it will be fine, the only problem I had was a hole in the oil tank second hand one off ebay and it's been fine

    Softwood is all I burn over here birch, pine and spruce season it well and there is no problem at all.

    I use a syringe to get the grease in, if it's a sealed head I wonder where the grease I am putting in is going.

    Sorry to go off course a little, but how do people grease fs 460 clearing saw with that little hole?

    Two months ago I had just finished a 10 hectare site using my fs 460, got home put new blade, and gave it a quick service ready for next job, then the father in law ask if he could use it , I reluctantly said yes so I gave him saw and fuel, about 3 hours later he turned up and just put it in my work shop and went home, I went to it next day to find the blade had a few teeth missing and bent , when I ask him what had happened he just said that there was a lot of rocks in his next door neighbours forest, so he said he would get me a new blade I told him its not the blade I am bothered about it's the rest of the machine, he just laughed 6 days later clutch springs snapped.

    I have the 460 short shaft purely for forest work, in my eyes nice strong saw , I also have fs 400 long shaft for grass work

    Same as yourself TCD left leg tibia and fibia, as for problems none at the moment it's been in for about 11 years and i work with clearing saw in the forest

    We have them here in Finland, I pour some lantern oil in and light that, more so around Christmas.

    I have a right hand drive disco in Finland, it's a bit of a problem when you are behind a timber truck (and there is lots of them)but apart from that it's fine, you get use to it.

    I live in Finland and we burn a lot of pine as long as it is seasoned well you shouldn't have a Problem.

    7 mpg is about the same as my disco v8 3.9 pulling a trailer of logs.
