  1. Music is a must for me, I have always got my ear defenders on at work.
  2. Silver birch bark works very well when dried
  3. I am a big stihl fan so this goes against the grain for me, but I would go with a husky harness.
  4. Fs 460 works for me, I do around 40 ha a year of thining, in the two and ahalf years of ownership I have replaced the clutch in the second year and the clutch housing two weeks ago
  5. I live in Finland,, and that sort of size I would thin out to about 1800 per hectare, it may be different were you are I hope that helps.
  6. Sorry it might sound like a daft question, but how do you do it on fs 460?
  7. Birch is all I burn over here in Finland, great for starting fire with just the bark, quick to dry , like someone else said bigger logs are better.
  8. -25 lots of snow, so I think I will have a day off and put a new cluth housing on my fs 460
  9. Just started planting 3 hectare of spruce, if is was my choice birch, as it has been said before fast turn around from sappling to final harvest are fire place.
  10. I've got the fs 460c had it 6 months, and already have had to have a new clutch in it, in my eyes it does work hard as it does between 6 and 7 hours a day doing thinning work, how long should they last as my fs 400 has had 1 in it in about 4 years .
  11. Two pints of larger and a packet of fags works fine.
  12. Try and ring up the council for old telegraph poles.
