  1. Not as big as the last one , but a nice size chestnut , craned out from a graveyard
  2. If you google duxburys garden centre , chain house lane , whitestake There's a big chip tip there that's always available , it's not too far from Fulwood , We sometimes tip at Blackpool rd allotments nr moor park but it's not always open where the other spot everyone tips there
  3. I thought either really investigate the decay then decide either take down or just monitor ? It's got a fair crown in it but these older sycamore lack decent growth points to reduce to in a lot of limbs .. It would block all the road no matter how much you reduced it !!!
  4. Took a photo today of the sycamore that's due for a reduction , anyone hazard a guess at the likely extent of decay in the butt ? ,
  5. As others have stated I use blue tongue & rope guide , i like the zigzag it's easy going to use , I mix & climb on Afew differant systems ( spiderjacks & bulldog bone ) & still enjoy the zigzag ... Maybe petzl Will make a beefier version , I don't think they need to be slim & light the bdb is a lot bigger & still feels good & not awkward ...
  6. I've a grcs for past 5 years & generally the winch will handle they type of wood that you need to pre- tension to either winch back or turn or lift & balance , it's also good to tension up limbs then take off some wraps just so it doesn't slip then the groundy can also let it run after the piece has turned where you want it , really really big stuff just put the solid bollard in . I havnt seen the smart winch or others work myself but the harken winch is a great tool
  7. Thanks Gordon , imori is a soft type rope so maybe harder ropes run better , one thing I did find was that the bone is so robust & solidly made that when I switched to spider jack the other day it felt flimsy )
  8. Any idea what rope he was using in the video , I've tried tachyon & and a marlow rope they didn't run as fast as that rope , is there any feedback on favoured ropes for the bone ?
  9. I've caught rabbits in snow with hawks & there's usually. Just snow pushed all over where they've struggled together , I've seen a goshawk pick a rabbit up just with momentum , but drop it quickly ,
  10. Thanks for the replies will post some more info when it comes in
  11. First big tree on bulldog bone today , feels great )
  12. That's the thing this tree is very big at base & in my eyes the reduction doesn't give good value for money & is causing more work reducing then in a short space the whole thing might have to come out , ye if it was free from targets but there's a building & main rd nxt to it !!
  13. Will have to get report off client , kicked myself left phone in truck while looking today !!
  14. I was asked to look at a very large sycamore nxt to a main rd today which had a report on it , the tree had a hole at the base ( fairly small) & was infected with Kretzschmaria , az stated in report , then they go on to recommend a 30% reduction on whole crown , just wondered people opinions on this ??
  15. I had a karabiner open on me before Christmas , I had finished getting the brash out of a large white poplar & was going back for a rigging pulley luckily I was stroped on the large stem I was spiking back up , i was leaning back & close to the stem and a bulge on the tree opened the karabiner , I leaned to one side and it closed , I repeated the movement to watch how it opened , lesson learned never take anything for granted !!
  16. Often wondered how bricklayers get away with being S/Employed , but work on site 5 days a week for same company , yet Arb related workers get pulled up for this ???
  17. Hi rich could I ask , if you where doing a short climb to another higher limb & it wasn't worth clipping to your neck/ chest tether , would you just take your weight of the rope & devise and pull your tail up to push the bone up ?? I've only had one go on my bone & it was raining / cold & abit push to get job done
  18. I just get this on some videos
  19. I watched on fb , had same problem !
  20. Ye where's my invite Pete ) Ps , I'll fetch my zigzag & bt rope for you
  21. It worked for red kites , when I was younger we use to see loads of reds , with the right place & a lot of will , some sites would be ideal for reintroducing reds , I shoot a lot of greys on my shoot & can get it so there none about for awhile then they trickle in from surrounding placed , so with people / traps & money it's not impossible
  22. We tip at duxburys garden centre nr whitestake which isn't too far from tarleton , Or you could look up Paul Crabtree he's based in tarleton but I don't really know him myself .
  23. White poplar take down from today , lacked some heavy rigging points & was wide ,
