  1. That's it in a nut shell. Also, support the UK economy, regardless of how messed up it is.
  2. No I wasn't. BUT NOW I AM!! Weheey the lasses!
  3. It's real magic! You'll get no presents from Santa next year if you carry on like this. "If you don't believe you won't receive"
  4. If he has the motivation, tenacity and no ego, he'll be ok. Wish him well.
  5. Forget photos Durham, I want more pics of those two 'singers', only the red head actually.
  6. God damn it! Just when I thought I didn't have to buy anything else!!
  7. I tried that but it was really uncomfortable. It probably has has a lot to do with the different boots we all wear and how each person walks. By that I mean ankle shape etc. In any case, it's important to find what feels good for you and go with it.
  8. Oops, the downfall of text communication mate. I didn't mean it that way, sorry. Anyway, It works out well for me some of the time and is a pain the rest of the time. Hence the thought of three or two different lengths. I love the Cinch especially now I have it on 10mm. It was awful on 11mm. It just really suits what I want to feel in my gear. Keep safe.
  9. I wouldn't rate a self employed climber until I knew what he can produce in a day. I've met plenty of guys that can produce plenty, from their mouths. The difference between a good climber and a good tree surgeon is like the difference between the sun and Pluto!
  10. As I said "natural progression for me" These are always personal things. You contradict. But as we all know, Each person has their own style based on what they desire to suit their needs. Deerman is the guy that got me thinking about the long lanyard that can be used as an SRTWP line. He has a 10m lanyard. I think I'll end up with a short medium and long lanyard. The Cinch will be perfect as there are no knots or a pulley or hitch cord to fiddle with to change lanyard rope.
  11. Paul said that the Beeline fits well into the case. He tried the others and this worked best.
  12. That's not a wasted post Adam I didn't feel the need to change lanyard, its been a natural progression for me. Using SRTWP means it can be a bit tricky getting back from long skinny branch walks, as you know. I got fed up using RADS to help and found that a long lanyard choked to a branch above creates another SRTWP system. The Cinch works perfectly for this. I chose the Cinch because its smaller and cheaper than a Grillon. A DMM thimble on a Prussik loop enables easy retrieving as I don't have to choke up to the branch if I can't reach it. A longer lanyard trailing about is more hassle but the very second Ropetek start selling the Sidewinder, I'll be getting one to deal with that problem.
  13. This is my lanyard now I climb SRTWP. 5m of 10mm Yale Silversteak. Trango Cinch. ISC 3way swivel snap. When I climbed DdRT: 3m of 13mm XTC. ISC Rocker. ISC 3way swivel snap.
  14. What, the sheets of fridge side are on the outside of the roof? Good idea. Did you get it all from the local tip?
  15. Stick with what you know for the course then go on the knot guide and search for past threads to gain more info.
  16. That's the best description I've ever heard of it! Brilliant. Anyway, I'd go for the HC system because you can later get a ZK2. Best of both worlds is the option to use DdRT and SRTWP.
  17. Stephen Blair's Iveco is the one I'd recommend. If someone doesn't buy it soon it'll end up on my driveway. And the wife is sure to notice! Please someone save me!!
  18. So will insulating the roof do the job or do I need to insulate all the walls as well? I just don't know. I'm aware of the saturation point issue and that's a good point Difflock. I've been told that it doesn't matter because every time the doors are opened, moisture can escape to the outside. However, that will only happen if the outside environment is much drier than the inside.
  19. 10k is not nearly enough. What will you be using it for and what gear will go on it, winch, chipper etc?
  20. They are smiley faces etc on an iPhone or iPad from the Emoticon app.
  21. How does that work? Bubble wrap won't absorb water.
  22. This isn't a real thread is it? Is it?! 😂
  23. I have a 20ft shipping container. It doesn't have a Grafotherm ceiling but I do have one of those Absorbapole moisture collectors in it. That works but with the type of atmosphere we have (in Surrey) I think I need 100 of them to deal with condensation on the ceiling! Does anyone use an electric dehumidifier to do the job?
  24. I'd stick to landscaping if I was you. The operating costs are much lower than running a tree business, which means the profit margin is higher. Doing domestic tree work you need to do several quotes a week plus all associated paper work, emails, phone calls, TPO apps etc. One landscaping quote can bring a three month job. Why expose yourself to the hassle and financial risk. I wish I'd been a landscaper.
