  1. Back to the subject: I priced to plant a Laurel hedge, as a sub-contractor. We started digging and found a 12" thick reinforced concrete slab. 1.5days of labour with a mini digger and mini skip turned into 4days with a 5t digger & breaker, 2t dumper, 5t telehandler and 4 skips! Looks like the client is about to knock me for the lot because patio slabs cracked even though they were pre-warned and said ok. 👎💩👎😢😢
  2. I can't talk about build quality Ty as I've only just got it but it looks good. I think you have to be careful because its aluminium but the stability afforded by the design is unparalleled. Being able to stick the front leg in the hedge is a real bonus, as is being able to straddle small shrubs by extending all legs. The SWL worries me.
  3. I bought the 3.6m with adjustable feet and used it for the first time yesterday. and it's brilliantly stable and nice and light. However, I then discovered that the max SWL is 100kg! One of my groundies is 95kg in his birthday suit, the other guy is well over. Do any heavy guys use them and have you broken yours? 100kg seems a bit slim considering a man wearing PPE and holding a big hedge cutter will be using it!
  4. That makes sense but I've got no idea how that would actually work. Do you have a video link.
  5. Why are climbing with a groundie helmet?😱😱😄
  6. Yep. That thread's full of photos and videos. Also go to YouTube for more videos.
  7. Dunno why you're asking us. If you want a flask, get it straight away. You know you'll regret it if you buy a cheap one. Plus, it's nostalgic for you innit!
  8. I'm educated once more. I shall never again refer to it as DRT.
  9. Yes the lanyard as a footloop was painful but its just an experiment. A guy on Treehouse mentioned it. There is no Croll in my photo. Fixed footloop or daisy chain is better but I'm trying alternatives. Thanks for the input, keep it coming.
  10. Perfectly true but I don't use a frogwalker system and I'm trying to keep components to a minimum.
  11. Not really an Obsessive Compulsive purchase except I could have had three normal step ladders for the same price. I'm actually amazed how good these are. Well worth the money.
  12. Yes but you only ever capture progress with this foot whether its attached to a hand ascender, HH, RW, Croll etc. The benefit is that it eliminates the need for a hand ascender as the hand loop does the advancement and the HH does the capture. In dcoffey's video you'll see him using the HH as both the hand ascender and the capture device. Even better than what I did as there is no hand loop.
  13. Just so I'm clear in my head, what is Dbrt?
  14. It's a bad photo. The idea is that as I push my right hand up the rope, it lifts the HH. At the same time I lift my right foot. I then step on the right foot (lanyard) andthe HH locks and I can lift my left foot/Pantin and move my left hand up the rope beyond my right hand. Look at dcoffey's video.
  15. 👍 Yep!
  16. 😂😂😂😂👍
  17. Why not? I use DRT 5% of the time because it makes more sense. Where is the after photo?
  18. Wise words Paul. I dismantled a large Birch over three phone lines earlier and did 50% of the crown with my Silky. Got the 200t up for the limbs and this was definitely the easiest way and it would have been slower with the chainsaw from the start. 👍
  19. The other view might be that it offers the same DRT variations AND the option of SRT. 😘
  20. If you slid your hand down onto the hitch it would be bad news. Here's a photo of me with my nervous face. I've got a Prussik as a right hand loop to advance the HH. I've used my lanyard clipped to the harness ring and looped on my right foot as a foot loop. It took a few minutes to co-ordinate my actions but it worked really well, for the first attempt. It's sort of the same as what Donny's video showed, I think, but with different gear. I also found that by having my hands on the rope above the hitch it kept me in a very upright position. Ergonomically good.
  21. You're so right with the last sentence. I just tried the tether again but it didn't work although I thing that was because I was in a talk skinny tree. I need to try it again in something spready.
  22. Defo it works as an O Rig. DMc suggested a variation of it and I tried it yesterday. M Rig, I don't see why not.
  23. The ventilation looks very poor. I could be wrong but it would be a first:lol:
  24. I'd choose exactly the same expect instead of the HC and ZK1 I'd get a Hitch Hiker. After using my HH today DRT on three trees its the clear choice.
  25. OH MY GOD!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂 French fireman springs to mind. Wait while I order some lumberjack braces and cut the sleeves of my t-shirts!😂😂😂😂.
