  1. I'm trying to figure out how these devices can be used for measuring crown spread, or more importantly, branch length. eg: if I want to measure the length of the remaining branch after 1.5m has been cut off the end. Hope that makes sense. I'm also trying to determine if I need such a high tech device or if the Suunto clinometer will do the job. Or indeed, if I should continue with my thumb and educated guesses. Thanks in advance for any replies. Al.
  2. I'd choose the saw that your local dealer sells. IMO they are pretty equal in performance and quality. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  3. So, at the risk of sounding like an amateur, what is the correct method of getting the line into the cube? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  4. All throwlines turn into spaghetti. That's why it's important to have an apprentice or trainee to untangle it. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  5. I tried them on in a shop and they felt good, IMO. I bought the Andrew Quickstep instead because I wanted the HAAS loop. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  6. I thought it was half as dangerous cos you only use half the amount of rope that a ddrt climber uses! Lol! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  7. As above, and above. Fell and replant. They are small trees therefore easy to deal with. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  8. I know this is a thread about cheap sets but my opinion may help some folk. I bought three Sena 10s sets last year and they are good, however I wish I'd spent more and got the Sena Tufftalk sets. Reason is that the wires can be a pain and the battery on the outside of the helmet is a liability. There you go. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  9. I'd suggest the best earplugs that fit your ears and a pair of mesh goggles. There are now a few types of these goggles available. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  10. WTF! I didn't expect to hear anyone say this. Can anyone else substantiate this or provide info on how it can be adjusted to work well in wet weather? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  11. I hope the insurance Co coughing up this time Jonny! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  12. Right on Jonny. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  13. I totally agree with this. If the system was tough it would serve as a deterrent. Criminals can ruin the lives of others by their selfish actions. Therefore, justice should ruin the life of the criminal. That would serve as a deterrent to others. I know some think that is too severe, however, I don't care. I've seen the emotional carnage that crime creates. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  14. If you treat staff badly and work them like dogs, they think they're more valuable than they are and leave after two years. If you treat staff well and give them perks etc, they start to think they're more valuable than they are and leave after two years! Why? WHY?! [emoji23] Lol! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  15. I rarely comment on these videos as I struggle not to make a disparaging remark however, that looked like fine rigging with a good team! I'm a massive BDB fan so I liked that too. Only other comment is that I may have speedlined most of it out into the car park. I speedline anything I can. So easy. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  16. Buggeration! I meant South Swindon. Thanks for the replies so far chaps and excuse my crapness. Stroud and Swindon may be next to each other for all I know. Lol! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  17. I need to hire a tracked chipper 7.5" minimum capacity for 2-3 days and a tracked stump grinder (as large as possible) for 1 day. The job is on the south side of Stroud and should happen mid-March. If you know of any hire companies in that area I would be grateful as a google search has not revealed much to me. Thank you. Al.
  18. I have not used one but you'll get more replies if you posted this in Climbers talk or General Chat as the SJ3 is not an SRT device.
  19. These guys Dave as nice and convenient. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  20. What do none of the links work for my phone anymore? I just get this when I click on the link:
  21. One of my staff has them. He likes them on the ground and the tree. They seem to be bearing up well.
  22. Has anyone used Sterling HTP with their BDB? If so, how was it for you? Thanks Al. Sterling HTP Static Rope
  23. Good video Warren. That's great how the shackle pin removes so easily at 4mins 14sec. Thanks for sharing.
