  1. If it were that simple . . . Why would "everybody" not be doing it?
  2. That dammned Green Eyed God is afflicting me right bad right now.
  3. I dont know about insects but the cock Robin is getting wile territorial round the bird feeder. Plus I saw a couple of trout rise in the pond yesterday.
  4. That would also have been a very sound pick. I grew up with a 540 Universal, and a Fiat 640, both were indestructable. Though that Duncan cab was a proper bastard on the unwary/uneducated elbows!
  5. Dinny tempt me . . . Since ah always had the hots for Deutz. And still do.
  6. I actually got 2 of those, I cannot fine a use for them but still wear them, kinda like a male corset. My excuse is they keep the phone from falling out of my shirt pocket, without being too warm. BTW Can anybody inform me what their role was in the Army? Blacksmithing was my only notion, but then the plastic zip would be liable to melt.
  7. Snce I have spent the last 1/2 Hr laughing like a loon, I shall share the source of my mirth. Behold; What Did We Get Stuck In Our Rectums Last Year? | Defector DEFECTOR.COM All reports are taken from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s database of emergency room visits, all... The comments are where the mirth starts.
  8. About time I again stated that our chimney has NEVER been cleaned, since 1997, and servicing a stove burning purely wood, first mostly Birch, then since about 2000, pure softwood/conifer. But always dry(ish). The flue is still "pulling like a train", hence never cleaned.
  9. That deserves way more than a "like" icon. Proper gobsmackingly good, and so satisfying to look at. To my eye, there is more art in that, than that to be found hanging in most galleries or museums. Marcus
  10. Looks like "No such thing as bad publicity" to me. WTF one cannot go for a walk, without clutching a coffee cup baffles me. Near as much as the proper disposal of the cup when empty which apparently baffles the grockles, since they simply toss them away.
  11. After reversing up a tortous steep serpentine lane paved with bent nails. And misc. other conditions. Anyway, apparently, Steve needs to introduce a "Free Firewood" sub section.
  12. DT's father has a lot to answer for, in light of recent occurances.
  13. My not-uninformed opinion? You will not be granted permission, since they simply cannot grant permission, with the possibility of a PI claim. So just do it. Worst case, eventually, if you make an absolute habit of it, someone will ask you to stop. But I near guarentee, more likely they will choose to not see you, even when they do. m
  14. Move to somewhere covered in concrete, near a Heathrow runway perhaps. Marcus
  15. Probably at the cheap and cheerful end of the spectrum, but BS is highly regarded locally. Tree Shear WWW.BRIANSCOTTENGINEERING.CO.UK
  16. Ah canny be arsed to check slime, but how deadly is Smallpox compared to Covid? both among the healthy and the others with underlying mortality issues? And then how comparable are the transmission vectors/mechanisms? Since, if as I suspect, Covid is much better at spreading itself, one can not draw direct comparisons, since it will be so much harder, if not downright impossible, to stop Covid spreading. Like with our success in conquering the transmission or re-occurance of influenza to date. Marcus
  17. I have, my wife did, our daughter does. The public service has a proportion of lazy useless, stupid or intelligent, slackers who abuse the terms and conditions, cannot be sacked, and blight the organisations for good/decent staff. Tough. P.S. Re public behavoiur and my previous rants re the herd of stupid selfish feckers gumming up A&E, before Covid hit. Where did they evoporate to overnight, did they miracously stop hurting themselves, or decide they were actually OK? Since the A&E were lying empty. P.S. Yesterday in Portrush, might as well have been a fine summers day, such was the hoards out enjoying the sunshine. And probably mostly decent folk, who have simply had a bellyfull of being told what to do, whether or not the instructions make sense or actually achieve anything.
  18. I have kept from commenting on this ongoing spat. BUT! I recently read a triade on another forum, where a father was demanding the Word stop and then revolve round his Sons allergy issues, said son who then went on to have a career in the US Military, as recounted by his father. Another was about a child that stumbled and banged his head, after being probably needlessly rushed to the hospital, the father bragged as to how he had then surrounded the child with cushions etc etc, after the hospital had said the child was fine btw. I read and reread those postings, and remain truely perplexed. Yesterday in Portrush, I observed 2 sets of parents, be very, very over protective of big toddlers/young infants wishing to walk along a short section of low topped wall, about 15/18" from the ground. FFS! Life is all about risk versus reward, life cannot be risk free. And my brutal but balanced take on the current situation is that we are killing the economy to save a few lives. Which killed economy will in return kill many MORE, in all sorts of convoluted but connected ways. A bit like telling soldiers to come away from the front line during a war, because it is so dangerous. Obviously it is hard for those who are or have been directly affected, but that does not mean we can stop the world to prevent it happening. I mean most of us still drive, with all the associated risks, yes? Ramble/rant over. cheers Marcus
