  1. this is what 2 people in the know have also told me.... warned me against a new one for that reason and to look for a low houred older shape like i've got with the prospect of spending 5 grand or so on it to make it 100%.. they reckon it'd be better in long run...
  2. i only sell the wood in bulk... what they choose to do with it is up to them... i'm not retailing it as firewood.... although my own beech thats in 2.4m lengths that was cut in march last yr is being split and delivered straight out at around 18% so i assume birch/ alder will be that moisture.. to be honest some of the birch was looking too far gone to me...i wouldnt wanna keep it for next year..
  3. alder/ birch/oak cut in may last yr.... not sure of moisture content but sold 12 loads in last couple weeks and its being processed and taken straight out..
  4. was just gonna say any tractor should be reved at 1800 rpm if not more to get 540 pto speed... most processors i've come across though rev at 440rpm... still 1300 rpm wont be enough...give it bit more throttle and i'm sure that'l cure it...
  5. cold weathers coming so things will pick up hopefully... been doing 15 loads week last 2 or 3 weeks but that just covers wages.... the artic loads cordwood have gone mad last couple weeks.. been out in lorry all weekend and got 4 days in it startin tomorrow.. found some seasaoned birch and oak which went like hot cakes..
  6. i bet i could find a scam on there every nite.... theres chippers, tractors, endless wood processors and the other day a combine harvester was on there... you can spot them a mile off when they put an email address up and ask you to ask any questions through that and not through ebay...
  7. mine went in last week...
  8. not sayin if a neighbour came out on a job and wanted a 4ft conifer cut down wouldnt do it lot less... but if i've gone to look at job as a one off then min charge applies.. and its same £80 min for a stump grinding job..
  9. i have min charge £80...
  10. culls been going on round here for years.... my grandad used to gas evety hole on the farm twice a yr... mind you in those days every other farm had cattle... now theres none for miles..
  11. doubt its gonna come down... bit like diesel...
  12. still £50 a ton delivered locally...
  13. i think he's meaning £400 for haulage.....??
  14. shooting for me... its only thing i'll have day off work for... going on a 500 bird pheasant day week today... always wait till end season so they hopefully have plenty height to em.. but mostly its clays... sporting or F.I.T.A.S.C
  15. not problem as discussed before.. but trouble is there is nothing available in south west at all to speak of [i been searching for months] so haulage is a killer... i could do all 10 looads..
  16. i could do that no problem... not sure i'd wanna be doing it with that big drop so close mind...
  17. cats are available with every type of agri spec you can think of... our local valtra dealer sells them... or not many as is case.... way over priced..
  18. must say jcb's used to be all the rage round here in late 90's early 2000's.... not many about now... my cousin has one and has to have new one every yr as it becomes way to unreliable after that... mind you he's prob doing nearly 2000hrs a yr with it..
  19. only thing to do id do what we do when we take a trailer on a job and were concerned it wont all go on.... drop a few grab fulls in then get in trailer with saw and start cutting it up, throwing bits in gaps, corners etc... done this in our 30 yard bin before and tractor wouldnt pull it on without help of machine that was on site whereas it will pull a 40 yard bin on when its just layed in there with a machine with ease..
  20. just google.. david cameron speaking about HS2... says it all.... northern nlabour mp's are ones who choose the route when in power so as to see the chilterns countryside devestated...
  21. i didnt notice till i'd posted theres no rotator... might effect the price...
  22. thats same as i have on my log lift crane on artic trailer..... they go from £500 upwards... i have smaller one i used to have on my 7.5 tonner 045 hiab..... half that size.. i use it on a 1.5 ton digger now...
  23. game and clay shooting.... more clay than game... and farming... its not my job as such its a hobby although it takes more of my time than my job
  24. i was dropping some serious lumps on those boards towards end.... 2ft long.. 4-6 inch diameter.... worked better than i expected
  25. the other route would of cost far less.... they say this is costing so much cos of the route its taking and the amount of compensation involved.. less than 2 miles from me they are payin 4.5 million in compo for a small holding and a listed house that both will be flattend... funny how listed buildings dont matter now....
