  1. board conservatory roof with ply.... did same yesterday with very rotten dodgy willow overhaed.. worked a treat...
  2. i'm sure i can find some.... at all the rally's it was talked about how in parliment the tories were gonna change the route if ever it went ahead... i've read in local magazines of the same thing.. all the banners that are upo in area basically say they were lead up the garden path when they voted..... the route goes right past the chequers estate which is good enough reason... were not just talkin about something like putting an extra lane on the M25 or a new by-pass.... this is total destruction of thousands of acres of land from amersham to midlands.... i was in warwickshire while back and saw the route going across a block of arable land and woodland.. there musta been 400 acres and it goes straight through middle...... not a main road or by-pass in sight.. surely a rail line running near enough parallel with M1 70% of way will have less impact..
  3. its not the HS2 itself that has got everyones baCk up, its the route... the HS2 came about under a labour government and it was those who choose the route opposed to the one going through dunstable, luton etc... labour knew they had no followers in the route through the chilterns whereas the other route, they had great following... everyone thought once this lot got in they'd change route as they promised before the election...
  4. £80 for 1.2ish cm3.... we do travel fair way from yard.... its not uncommon for me to do 200 miles in a day.. lot of new customers and i'd say 70% repeats from last yr...done comin up to 500 loads so far since begining sept..... was hoping for 1000 this yr but unless summin drastic happens cant see that happening.. have the wood ready so thats not problem...
  5. they would if its oak .... [green] i filled our 14 tonner to brim and beyond last week with fresh beech butts and lookin at the tyres and sprung draw bar and way it towed there was far more than 14 ton on it...
  6. yeah there excempt... been into london today with mog and fastrac....
  7. were flat out [10 loads+ per day] up to xmas... done around 7 or 8 since...
  8. and its not worth 10 grand..... bit more than startin bid i'd a said..
  9. on news now there saying the line will be mainly underground in amersham where i am.. wheres all the soil gonna go from these miles of tunnels??
  10. just makes me sick when they had a route up side of M1 planned which surely would have less impact.. they reckon this will be on level with the M25 build.....
  11. your right.. they bought propertys for millions around here over 18 months ago.. they just bought my uncles house off him for same money he had it valued fot 4 yrs ago.... the stress of not being able to sell his house for 2 yrs is prob what caused him to have a stroke recently but doubt they'l worry btoo much about that..
  12. great.. cheap labour from north and the midlands!!
  13. if it was a new motorway that we'd get benifit from wouldnt be so bad..... cant see the need to get to birmingham in an hour to be honest... our local mp says its there to get cheap labour from midlands into london..... GREAT..
  14. looks good... cant beat a good shooting holiday....been to argentina twice now shootin doves, pigeons, duck and cormerents.... shot 6500 doves in one day.... thats summin you only do once in lifetime... and 300 cormerents between few of us in an afternoon.... mrs doesnt understand how i can have 2 weeks off to do that but wont go sit on a beech with her.....????
  15. its more the chaos that its gonna cause that concerns most people... all the small roads, lanes etc that we use every day will be closed for months if not yrs causing grid lock in surroundin area...
  16. just heard on news its been given the go head.... [always knew it would to be honest].. gonna devestate our local countryside and cause havoc on roads for years whilst its being built.. our own farms arent affected but one we rent is..... and several of our neighbours farms are... inc our next door neighbouring pheasant shoot... some of the best and highest drives in deep valley will e ruined as the HS2 goes right by it [100m away] but all the soil from the tunnel is gonna be leveled in the valleys... [not 100% yet but the land owner will not turn down the revenue from this]..
  17. any engne will fit anything if you play about with it enough... should a said a 200 will fit straight in.. or so i'm told by our local expert...
  18. we had same trouble with brkes, transmission, hydraulic pump on the 6070 and 7030.... had bill for nearly 20 grand in 1st yr of owning them... and warranty doesnt cover any of it... not good but every tractor apart from valtra suffers with brake problems from what i can see... thats why we bought the 8970... 2001 with 4500hrs.. 2 owners from new totally as new condition for 23k.. thats a lot of 240hp tractor for the money.. and that;ll still be going when the 7030's in breakers yard..
  19. contractor mate of mine had 2 large fendts brand new 3 yrs ago... he kept them both less than yr and replaced with big case and the 8000 serirs fastrac..
  20. we're in process of fitting a 200tdi to an old 2.5 turbo land rover.. and a 300 tdi wont fit whereas a 200 will...
  21. we have a john deere [matbro painted green] at min.. its the 4th one we've had since 1996... unfortunatly they dont make em anymore which is real shame... every 3 yrs it was only costing around 15 grand to change with around 3000hrs on clock... now its gonna be over 30 to change unless we go for merlo... we did buy a little NH 6020 with a loader last yr which has taken lot pressure off the forklift.. i'd rather keep the john deere and spend another 20k on a 2nd used forklift but the old man wont have it... by the way, we're mostly ford new holland..... 8630.. 6020..6070.. 7030..8970 [proper tractor] 3155 fastrac..lateish MB trac with sprayer.. and lookin at a TM 155 in next week or so straight off local arable farm with 3k hrs on clock...
  22. i've got transits that cost as much in a year as i spend on a mog... i dont touch a single spanner myself unless summins gone wrong on a job.. i have a mechanic do everything, even change the blades in chipper.. in the 7 or 8 yrs i've had mog i had a recon radiator at cost of £600 within a week of owning it as pipe bracket had broken and rubbed rad.... starter motor and alternator.... rebuilt all brake calipers with a repair kit.. had 3 compressors fitted mainly because it runs very hot in the summer which i've now sorted... recored the radiator mainly to elliminate that from over heatin preoblem.. few lights, sets brake pads, belts, odd hydraulic pipe etc over yrs.... now i'm guessin that wouldnt come to 10 grand for the 8 yrs... now theres plenty life left in it still and unless i was to buy abrand new one i';d have no plans to change it... when i say 20 yrs of use i mean buy a new one and in 20 yrs time trade it in for another new one so as to keep it reliable.. mines got few yrs to go till its 20 but i'm guessin it wont be unreliable when it is..... not sure how the new ones will be in comparrison with their electrics/computers etc..
  23. trust me a 6 inch road tow chipper would be in our scrap bin after 2 yrs working with us.... and it'd take 40 yrs to do the work we'd do in 20 with a mog and chipper... as for the 10 grand a yr to run one..that is complete bollocks.... in the last 12 months i can honestly say other than set front brake pads thats all i've spent on it.. other than the service.... and the 3 yr old schliesing chipper has just had £600 spent on it as buttons, stress control, computer wasnt workin properly.. thats the only money i've spent on chipper since new other than blades...
  24. no.. not unless they're kicking to death another animal belonging to u... then you could
  25. i've driven a couple and they seem fine... wanna no what there like out in a field for 16 hrs a day when its 85-90 degrees loading bales... does the torque converter or engine run hot etc... you see a lot on building sites which is completly diff from the way we'd be driving it... we tow a lot with ours in the winter deliverin hay mostly.. we have 4 farms dotted around the countryside so lot roadwork involved... only merlos round here are on couple big arable farms where all they do is push up and load corn/fertilizer etc.... not a good test of how machine performs..
