  1. we always work on min of £1000 a day for 2 men [ one of em climbs a bit ] and bit more if good [expensive] climber comes in... if thers no tree work there on logs or on farm... but thats not often... most of our logs get done after the tree work..
  2. yeah you can.. its supposed to expand the shoes to shape of hub... better still buy an iveco.. discs all round... never a problem [well one thats easily fixed]
  3. i can deliver in 26 artic loads at £55 a ton.... beech
  4. no.. but my cousin has one on his.. he's piped rotator off the crowd ram as its not used with grab on it... i think that leaver is for exactly that... auger left or right... a breaker needs a constant flow to work it.... i no when i put my grab on for first time it would open one way but not other... turnt that lever and worked fine..
  5. unimog and 12 inch chipper.... fastrac with 30 yard bin.... if i didnt have those on job i'd a still priced the same but woulda been 3 days... 2 transits and 6 inch timberwolf with me running chip/logs back and forth.. and jobs 25 miles from yard..... they had prices of over 6 gand.... and i'd a had 2 groundsmen instead of 3... only had 3 to get all gear there...
  6. have 14 loads booked for sat... as well as 2 or 3 we do each day for those that arent in at weekend.... got busy with tree work and timber haulage this week so log pile isnt as big as it should be... lot overtime for my ladds comin up i think
  7. i there not a lever under floor pan you move round... i no on our 1.5 ton kubota you have it in one position for usin breaker and diff one for usin our timber grab.... something to do with oil flow...
  8. same thing if your pricing your work according to those figures...
  9. yeah.. wedge bit wood on it or brick... or plumb it off crowd ram and put bungee strap on joystick....
  10. all this day rate stuff seems ridiculous to me..... i look at job and give a price.. 2 jobs for £400 and one for say £350 are easily done by a climber and 2 groundsmen in day... job today is £4200.... started today and be finished tomorrow inc the neighbous job if he wants it done which was another £350.. so £4550 2 days with a climber and 3 groundsmen... you wont get rich stickin to a day rate.... i get asked for day rates all time. give them price.. take it or leave it...
  11. yeah.. you can spend 600 quid on cables and shoes and perhaps drums and once you done that your brake readin will be worse cos they've not bedded in.... all to get an extra 1% on the machine... with a brake readin of around 9% you wouldnt move those wheels if towed with a 300hp tractor... i spent 6 or 7 yrs testin at least 2 7.5 ton 45 series daf lorrys a month [as horseboxes] and that was biggest problem with their brakes... tryin to fix something thats not actually broken..
  12. look under dash near steering wheel, you'l see wire for foot brake solenoid that activates your brake lights.... cut it in half and put a male female joiner in it... pull wire up.. slide steerin column towards seat and tuck wire behind column..... go back for retest.... do brake test as normal but once you've done rear brakes on roller pull wire apart.... when he says "hand brake on" put your foot hard down on foot pedal too.... works every time....!!
  13. obviously we all have to wait for money from clients who need an invoice.... ie.. developers, builders, landscape gardners etc.... buy most private customers dont want or need an invoice and if they do i always send them one in post...i write an invoice out for every cheque i get and unless they request it there copy goes in bin leavin one for the vat man/bookkeeper to see..... end of every job one of my guys is knocking on there door for cheque.. if there not in when we're finished i'll be round next day to collect.... weeks not end of world but they shoulda said that from start.... i even do jobs sometimes and get 3 or 4 post dated cheques over 3 or 4 months to help them out.. usually the first cheque covers all costs so its not problem and i no this is situation from start..
  14. i've not bought one yet... noy had enough interest in doing bulk orders of bulk bags and dont wanna get involved in selling my wood by the bag.... the bag wiz is 1850 quid so you need to be doing fair bit with it.... you can bag woodchip, soil, crush concrete with it so they say...
  15. i can buy dead straight processor size beech and deliver it around your area for 50 a ton.... 30 a ton would be good going..
  16. last couple weeks people have been askin loads questions, some order straight away, some ring back few days later and some never hear from again but since this frost we been havin end last week took 10 phone calls on friday and took 9 loads out yesterday morning before i went phaesant shooting, had 3 calls during the day and did them after shooting then took 4 out this morning... 2 new calls and 2 already booked.. seems there not so fussy now its getting cold.... and my newer transit with 4 loads on back at time is an absaloute godsend.... makes life so much easier....
  17. got an artic load douglas fir on a job which will be cheap mate.... alsothetes couple load poplar.. dead straight trunks 2-3 ft diameter also very cheap...
  18. yes mate..call me when ready.. cheers
  19. i haqve a 4 m conveyor on my burnt out palax ks35 that i keep meaning to fabricate onto my vertical splitter... it will undoubtably speed the splittin process up by a good 30% i reckon..
  20. exactly.... most of the description is read from a brochure... they dont [and wont tell you] where they are and they say buy it now and they'l get it delivered to you.... not to mention they dont want you messagin them through ebay....
  21. i guarantee its a scam..its been on there before... send them a message askin to view it and see what they say....
  22. think he said it was 17 grand new with log deck... can buy it around 11...
  23. just been talking to the guy who owns it trying to have a deal.... has anyone ever seen or used one??
  24. no its all still there... never had anyone showing any interest... been selling plenty beech though and have regular supply now so will have it all yr round .. bought 350 ton beech, holly, oak, cedar, poplar and small amount of yew today right on my doorstep at reasonable price so thats for sale at min..
