  1. thinking of something like that or a 7.5 or 10 ton lorry with crane.... think the lorry would get more use to be honest..
  2. was only looking at that myself half hour ago.. especially as its on my door step..
  3. to be honest i doubt theres much can go wrong that my local mechanic cant fix.. had couple hydraulic motors go on my old ks35 which we sourced and sorted in few hours.. it certainly is a big processor... i can buy bigger cord in at much cheaper rate than normal 15 inch max stuff thats why i like it... was thinking of a brand new palax 90sg with new 7 m log deck but that's nearly £30.000 total.. this 2nd hand one is 14000 and 4000 for 3m deck.. i'm hoping to be able to process 26 ton loads of cord very quickly then deliver them out in my bulker at a rate that would make you all think twice about buying cord and processing it yourselves... i reckon i'd do 26 ton in a day with 2 of us with that maxhine..
  4. he seemed to think it was full rate unless its to a school or a charity run organisation... which is the only info i could get off internet
  5. thanks for all replies... i'll pass this on to my book keeprt who's currently doing my vat returns..
  6. all depends what you do in a day.. guy i no is always booked up for at least 6 weeks... he has 3 man team inc himself.. but jobs i price and put one day on he'l put 2 on if not 3... and he'l make them last that long
  7. any one own or used one..? thinking of buying a 2nd hand one with new 3m log deck
  8. can someone who no's 100% pls let me no what the rate of vat is on firewood. people say its 5% but my book keeper and accountant don't agree. they say its the full rate.. and must admit i have several dozen invoices where i've charged the vat on at old rate 17.5% and in a vat inspection the vat man has seen them and didn't say it was wrong..
  9. was enquiring yesterday about new processor and log deck... there not cheap.. a 3/4 metre palax deck is 4grand and a 5 metre one which is one i want is 7 grand.. we been loading our old processpr with mini digger thats got small log grab on it.. works a treat and the operator has time to sort every lenght into diff piles... 4 way.. 6 way and single split stuff so you change wedge as few times as poss... way i see it with a log deck is that it should last a life time..
  10. long way from me...would be £70 a ton delivered...
  11. 20 miles of j19 M25... where abouts in norfolk are you?
  12. beech cord for sale in 3.4m lengths and processor friendly size.. £50 a ton delivered local to me.. happy to quote if further a field... 26 ton loads on timber trailer with own crane so access must be good for an artic
  13. pm sent.. thanks..
  14. let me no where you can buy seasoned hardwood for £40 or even 50 a ton... cheapest i can, and have been buying is 36 a ton.... and there cutting it down one day and i'm picking it up the next... firewood prices have to rise dramaticaly in next year or so or theres gonna be very short supply...
  15. i'm taking 3 loads at time dont forget.. and can take 4 if needed...
  16. got a double, and a single load to do in same street in edgware london first thing in morning.. prob a 40 mile round trip.. no exrea charge..
  17. best place for that is the local scrap yard..
  18. mine is agricultural and 16 yr old with tractor license drives it..... well he's 17 now..
  19. wasnt sure where it was till i see the old 360... thats where i sell all my oak butts too...
  20. i had one of these last year from hong kong... knew it was a scam but went along with it for weeks to wind the bloke up.. had several phone conversations with him...he made out there was £200.000 legal fee's to pay in his country and he'd sold some property in hong kong to pay for it.. he never once asked for any personal details.. then he said he needed another £50.000 to bribe a solicitoir with in order to get hold of our 5 million... this had gone on for 2 months and i guarantee he thought he'd got me... then i told him there was no way i was handing over a penny.. he couldnt believe it..he was truly gutted you could tell.. had few more emails after that where i told him exactly what i thought of him and what i was gonna do to him if i could ever meet him and never heard another word...
  21. our first day is today.... was supposed to be the22nd but bought forward cos birds are good size and movging around well... i do all the game cover on our syndicate in return for a full gun [we shoot every other week].. only shoot between 50-100 each shoot and that goes down to 20 towards end.. but we have 6 good drives, its on my doorstep and good bunch guys shoot there... The estate next to us turns down 20.000 pheasants partridge a year, my dad has half gun and i'm trying to get another half gun there too... they shoot up to 400 a day there on some real good hillside drives... [as good as you'l get in our area]... bit too sunny today for my liking but this will be the first day offi've had since middle may so i'm gonna enjoy it..
  22. think he was quite polite myself... i have no time for idiots like that.... not anymore.. i'd a told him where he could shove each and every one of those logs...there are plenty of pratts out there and always will be... the more you pussy foot round them the worse they get...
  23. couple people down here process for around £30 an hour.. thats 2 men a 1.5 ton digger with small log grab on to load with... the other guy with just processor and 2 men is 20 an hour.... way they look at it is processor costs less than 10 grand and they only get £25 an hour for £60.000's worth of tractor and hedge cutter..
  24. we're in amersham.. in buckinghamshire...
  25. i just bought exact same thing although mine carrys 25 ton... general haulage rates for moving wood arent much better than grain... only way to make money is to buy cordwood [hardwood] and sell it on at delivered in price... i havent had much luck finding much work at a reasonable rate other than that..
