  1. i''ve got 2 441's... one 09 and one 2010... i have never touched the spark plug in either... all we do is blowthe air filter out every now and then and they have both logged up serious amount of wood.. never had a problem with either..
  2. i no mate.... i'm just lucky to have few lads who would rather be earning bit extra when they can... rather than sat in pub watchin football today like most their mates woulda been.....
  3. my climber doesn't unless he gets extra... he'll be done by 3 for that money..... all my lads work till 5.. after that their on overtime.... 2 of them have been it till 7 tonight splitting logs... they asked me for the work..
  4. blimmey..... i have to pay £180 just for the climber... and £100 a day plus delivery plus diesel is rate for a 6inch timberwolf...
  5. £200 £280 £350 thats what i've paid recently..
  6. i'm in process of havin my 4metre conveyor off my burnt out palax processor fabricated onto my horizontal wessex splitter.... this way one swift movement with one hand will slide load split logs onto conveyor and into a 30 yard bin.... i reckon it will more than double or triple output... i'll put some pics up when its done....
  7. think few of them are on here or look on here reguarly so don't wanna say too much...
  8. i'll do it for £400 with my tracked vermeer mate..
  9. £400 the lot asa long as access is good for big machine...
  10. have to admit i been taking all the hard wood from there.... many people on here have it stacked in there yard or field seasoning for next year... matthews the brick makers have bought 200 ton sweet chestnut to fire their old fashoned kiln with... the guy who's doing the felling said that job has taken 15 yrs to sort out.. and now they've started there back there on a regular bsais... i was in there on friday picking load beech up and he said they nearly finished but there back there again in september...
  11. without a doubt... in last 2 weeks i've priced and won 2 jobs because i got the kit to do it... one is to take down 60... 70ft high bushy conifers and grind roots and other to clear load trees on side river... both jobs very good access... the conifer job i can reverse my artic and timber trailer down the drive, fell the trees then grab all the butts and big wood straight on back of trailer [take back to yard then gat stobarts in with their mobile chipper] all brush will go through the big chipper and blow it into 40 yard rollonoff bins.. i won job for £8500+vat and reckon theres 3 days there with takin roots out... nearesy quote was £12.000 but he said it'd take 2 weeks and only has a 6inch timberwolf and 2 transits.. i'll be posting some pics of job on here when we do it..
  12. i do exactly same with my transit..... you sure hilux will take the weight?? 3 loads on transit is on limits...
  13. few yrs ago i spent 12 grand on a kreeigoff gold scroll supersporter...lovely gun but couldnt get on with it.... sold that and had my miroku in the deal.... £800's worth and i shoot that lot better... came joint 6th at the classic this yr in A class and shoot high 80's early 90's at registered and local 100 bird sportin shoots.. couldnt do that with the kreeigoff... i think any miroku guns especially the older ones are best value for money you'l get...
  14. ha... yeah i did have to read that couple times to make sure....
  15. you can make any gun into a trap gun.. if it has a comb raiser fitted just lift the comb up a bit so you can see all the rib when you look down the barrel.. its not as expensive as you'd think to get a gunsmith to chop the stock around and fit a comb raiser... my mate matt hance who used to climb for me shoots fitasc for great britain and his perrazzi is a sporter but he had it made like a trap gun so he see's all the rib when he shoots thus havin to shoot below targets... i cant shoot like that... i like to shoot where i'm pointing and my gun shoots dead flat....
  16. why is it you say you want a trap gun... do you like to shoot underneath targets.. or always see the target above your barrells... i have a miroku 3800 trap gun.. 32 inch 3/4 and full choke.. but the stock has been dropped so it shoots dead flat which is how i like to shoot...
  17. thats correct but obviously thats with a chipper and 2 trucks.... we work on min of £1000 a day... with up to 4 men.. usually 3..
  18. theres another wood p[rocessor on there in isle white.. thats 2 processors on there in a week now..
  19. i do the skips first.. then take the artic out..... several blokes in my area who are owner drivers are always moaning they cant make a living running an artic..... i can see why they wouldnt.. on grain bulker work they wouldnt come home with more than £150 a day after diesel.. diff with me and few others i no that run lorrys is we got other eggs in other baskets.. i do skips early in morn before i go out with artic and my lads are out doing tree work while i'm out in lorry.... i enjoy drivin all over south england and come home with few extra quid than i woulda had if i'd stayed at yard..... and timber haulage is lot more profitable than grain...
  20. exactly... when they ask the question and i tell em that then there more than happy to be quoted on the job....
  21. £350 an hour is what i say when asked... thats for a climber and one groundsman..
  22. i have plenty... not far fron j4 on M40..
  23. i been buying green artic loads ash and sycamore... i have to spend ages makin sure every gap is filled in and fill trailer to top of the pins to get 26 ton on.... i bought some ash and sycamore from diff place that had been cut in april so part seasoned and as hard as i tried i could only get 20 ton on... just shows diff that few months seasoning makes...
  24. i have some but haulage would kill it...
  25. timber haulage is min of £10 aton even if its going 2 miles up road... if its 20 miles away its £15 a ton... and so on depending how far u are... my lorry averages 5 miles to gallon on a round trip... pls do not think i'm earning a fortune.... i can take 2 skips out in an hour and pick a full one up on way back and earn same money as 6 or 7 hours in timber lorry...
