  1. you are less than a mile from our farm... we're on theamersham road.... you can bring logs and chips no probs..
  2. i've got 200 or more 1.3 cubic metre loads split and ready to go... put my usual adverts in all the same papers that i did this time last yr... they all came out today ans so far not a phone call.. lookin in my old diary i'd got 9 loads booked in for this sat this time last yr..
  3. i've done few similar to that.. and worse... when i had my 7.5 ton lorry and crane tryin to lift too bigger butt with log grab, and someoone leavin a 3 week old 660 very close by to have a 4 ft x 12ft beech butt dropped on it??
  4. god yeah.. forgot that.. i get it back but most wont... guy i was trying to buy some cord from today said the biomass boilers is whats messed the cord price up.. he says there paying 60 a ton and more to chip it... and its gonna get worse... i can buy quite a bit at 35 a ton over next few months.. some with vat.. some without.. and i'll be selling it for min of 50 a ton delivered... thats for localish delivery..
  5. i was just thinking the same... i've just bought a tractor unit with various trailers.. one of which is a tri axle timber trailer with front mount crane, 5, 2.4 metre bays... it carries around 26 ton... i thought i'd be able to buy cord anywhere for £30 a ton.. £35 tops.. put a post on here for cordwood for sale at £50 a ton and make few quid out the haulage... think i've sourced 300 ton of mixed hardwood [mostly ash and birch] but its lot harder than i thought it was gonna be.... i can buy as much beech as i want from my usual guy at £50 a ton delivered so thats price i'm going on... at £60 a ton plus around another £15 ton haulage is there any money to be made... i;d be suprised if there was more than 40 1 cubic metre loads from 25 ton... so if you charge £80 a metre your gonna earn £1325... less time processing which is gonna take min 2 days for 2 men so roughly £300 in labour.. so your profir is £25.50 a load less your time delivering, diesel in truck and tractor.. advertising and wear and tear on machinery, truck etc........ best thing is stay in bed and you'l be better off....
  6. have tou or can you get hold of a teleporter to load an artic bulker.. assuming theres acess for an artic..
  7. you can only use agricultural land for agricultural purposes... the only wood you can cut up on your land is wood that is derived from that land.. a tree you've cut down thats on your land for instance... they can stop you doing what your doing without a doubt.... they tried stopping me bringing wood chip into our farm... i can bring it in cos i told them we use it for compost on the land.... it cant be bought in and then sold off again...
  8. if someone wants to buy it at 50 a ton i'll give them a price to haul it....
  9. thats what i thought...
  10. so would you take 35 a ton for say min of 150 tons if i let you no for def in day or so... couldn't move it for around a week though if thats not a problem?
  11. possibly as much as you've got..... i've bought the lorry for haulage of cord wood.. thought i'd buy some, then sell it on here at £50 a ton... all i want is the haulage out of it you see... i can sell 3 loads round my way straight away... thats if there not put off about it being mostly oak... although i've got over 100 ton of beech in yard, i could mix that in...
  12. ah that could be it.... but i remember summin about brushin them in one direction?
  13. too dear for me mate.. i get it delivered in for same.. just bought a tractor unit and timber trailer that holds 26 ton... £50 ton seems to be the norm delivered in... wanna be payin £35 tops to make it worth while really..
  14. i seem to remember reading somewhere [prob on the label] that there not supposed to go in a washing machine.. you lay them flat in a bath and wash them down with a shower head with warm water.. and use a brush but only brush them from top to bottom... i used to put mine in washin machine.. cant say i've worn a pair for few yrs now..
  15. how much a ton if i collect....?
  16. take all the rubbish back and tip it straight up... no question...!!
  17. i've got 3 loads on one truck and 2 on the other ready to take out in few mins... and i got 2 more to do before i go and sit on the big baler till the early hours again... i class logs as a side line to tree work but £560 cash will come in handy this morning...
  18. if you could wait a month till i get my lorry on the road i'd buy everything you got for £35 a ton....
  19. if there going in a shed should be shed with no sides.. lot my logs that were split and put straight into shed were covered in mould when i moved them...
  20. pm sent.. thanks..
  21. i was pulled over by a traffic officer last harvest who was out with his speed trap... i was doing 32mph in a 30 in our T7030.. he just gave me a warning as wasn't going fast enough to prosecute.. he didnt have a clue about the 20mph limit... think we're the only farmers in 20 mile radius who have a tractor that does 20mph max..[old ford 8630 we leave on hedge cutter]..
  22. thats no problem.. got handsfree in tractor....
  23. i have 3 land line no's that are usually diverted to 3 different mobiles... or to 1 when not that busy... 1 for skips and 2 for logs and tree work.. i have them all on a long ring before answer phone kicks in so can usually finish conversation on one phone then answer other.. if its a tree job i'm on phone too have been known to cut them off to answer another phone or take a call thats waiting on same phone.. then ring back apologisin for being in a "bad area"..
  24. i find if you dont answer that phone straight away the customer simply moves straight on to next ad without even puttin the phone down for a sec.... i'm talkin of dozens and dozens of times i'll ring the no back within 20 secs of gettin a missed call to find the line engaged and when i do get through i'd say 7 outta 10 times they've gone somewhere else... this also happens with customers ringing up for skips... yeah you'l get few that want to shop around and get 2or 3 prices but not often in my experience...
  25. yeah it'l be top quality if we get the weather.. its 2nd cut so its nice and green.. will be better than most 1st cuts we did..
