  1. i disagree... when ever i buy cord by m3 i get 27m3 on my lorry or 25-26 ton.. so 27m3 x £35 = £945.. if buying by the ton 26 ton x £35 a ton = £910... not much diff... you find pure ash is sold by the m3 as its very light compared to beech which is always sold by the ton.. diff is with ash youll get a full lorry load wheras with beech you wont... trailer will only be 3/4 full for 26 ton.... works out same price per load either way...
  2. i'm guessing he might be talking about buying cordwood in by the ton or m3.. if thats so its roughly the same... my lory holds 27m3 or 26 ton..... £50 diff if my sums are correct
  3. thought it was only 6 months you can go back...
  4. i'll deliver you timber in at £50 a ton and if i was a one man band and just relied on firewood i could make a good living.. in summer you have to source as much wood for free as poss by collecting it for free from tree surgeons off their jobs then buy in the rest..
  5. arb waste as in soft wood etc is ideal as its generally cut to liftable sizes that can be thrown straight in the boiler.. if you have an office or better still can run a pipe to a neighbour and heat there house you will qualify for the incentive the gov are offerin.. prob around 5 grand a year in payments.. so more wood you use more money you earn.. if you are only heatin one property you wont qualify.. what you have to remember is you are signing up for a 20yr contract at set income per kw used which goes up down with inflation... you can bet your life price heatin oil or gas is only gonna go up so in 5 or 10 yrs it might be double what it is now.. its a no brainer far as i can see...
  6. he used to have half his house closed off and only the heating on when nessesary.. now the whole house is heated and heating on all the time without worrying about how much oil its using and even with the cost of paying someone to split it its half what his oil bill was from october to april..... but like he said the last few weeks he's only been filling it once every 3 or 4 days .. and he also gets 7-10p from government for every kw he burns which pays for wood and more on top... he has another boiler running at full capacity 24hrs day 6 days a week and that burns 2.5 tons week.. the art of these boilers is to source the cheapest wood possible... i've sold him 5 artic loads poplar which delivered in would cost him £25 a ton... i took some in at xmas which he split straight away and is now burning... i have 3 artic loads cedar larch conifer that was given to me to move and thats what we'l be using in our boiler..
  7. my mate who sells them has 2 installed.. the one at his house he fills once a day and puts 6-10 logs cut to 90cm and around 4-6 inch diameter... he reckons 5 ton hardwood a month.. he has a big draughty old farm house...
  8. have a look at central boilers... wood only though... ours has just arrived ready for installation.. and you leave excisting boiler in place... if temp drops it takes the heat fom the gas or oil..
  9. i have a 1996 u1600 with front mount 2008 schliesing 550... exellent mechanically, body could do with a refurb.. but in every day use.. mog has full ag spec.. good outfit imo... may be thinking of new mog and chipper end yr if not i may be selling anyway...
  10. full artic load processor size birch alder oak... £1650.... or bigger diamerer [straight] ash/oak £1550 a load or oak ash tree tops not so straight £1450 a load.. all cut nearly a year ago...
  11. p.s.. thats roadside prices...
  12. i wouldnt complain at that... theres nothing available down here for less than £35 a ton and most of wood i buy is £40... but i have access to 1000's of tons at that price all yr round whereas i fear those deliverin cord at £38 wont be in trhe game long term..
  13. what area are you in... £50 a ton localto me..
  14. are you looking for an artic load hardwood or just some haulage doing??
  15. why cant you just go pick the car up with bankers draft or cash.. i recently bought an audi Q7 off ebay and did exactly that.. i bought my volvo tractor unit and trailer off there too and did same.. both times it stated pay through paypal but i wasnt gonna hand 30 grand over till i see the veichle with all paper work infront of me amd to be honest anyone who does needs there head testing....
  16. i'll do the haulage.. 26 ton artic load for £400... and i'm guessin the cordwood is £35+vat a ton...
  17. we use them.. good in open yards in winter.. and good to put a layer down a foot thick when you've mucked a shed out then put straw on top.. could deliver you 65 cubic yards in a bulker for cost of haulage and £6a ton for chips.. lot cheaper than wheat straw at £65 a ton
  18. if wood is green then 26 ton... as its very dry and been cut for while the trailer is full to brim for 23-24 ton..
  19. hello mate.. can get you some larch cut to what ever length you want [within reason].. and delivered..
  20. hello mate.. i can supply you with 100 ton no problem...
  21. i have my rotator piped into the crowd ram... but i have the grab in and out piped into the breaker pedal and it opens and shuts on the foot pedal so would thought a rotator would spin one way, then the other on same pedal??
  22. stopped adevertising in there 2 yrs ago when they put the wrong phone no in the add and still expected me to pay..
  23. pm sent. thanks
  24. tell me about it... there trying to stop me from doing firewood from our farm.... and keep asking where the woodchip goes.....
  25. guy we sell straw too is supplyin 16000 bales for all the diff locations.... we should make few quid out of it....
