  1. 10 tonne splitter + 85bhp tractor ;-)
  2. Untill i bought one of the above mentioned log bagging trays i was using a peice of a plastic banner. Roll the cut bit of banner in a sausage and put in the net, hand in the net to open out the banner. Fill with logs and when full whip the banner out. It works well. Fuelwood page
  3. Picture 1. Ancient fossilised trees preserved in the sand on frazer island, you can see the blackened trucks sticking out of the sand. Picture 2. My wife in front of a small gum tree, one that survived when Fraser island was logged.
  4. Mine are called Warma Briquettes, stove was still hot this morning when i came down. I am thinking they would be ideal for clients with stoves running back boilers that they want to keep ticking over.
  5. Cheers for the reply Andy. The ones i have are kinda brick shaped, kiln dried not sure what wood went in them to be honest. I am paying £2.50 for a 10kg pack of 12 bricks. As i got no replies i figured id just wing it. I used a firelighter and small pile of kindling, sitting two of the bricks on top. They were soon burning well, i gave them a prod and they settled down to the grate and really got going. Temp at this stage was only 200. After the prod they did loose a bit of their shape but really started burning well, but still only 300. So i stuck 2 more bricks in and oh yeah, 500 in no time so i throttled the stove back and the temp sat at 400 for an hour before starting to look as if it needed another brick on top. All in tonight i have only burnt 5 briquettes from 7:30 till 10:55 (and its still at 400 with at least another hour to run), so trade cost is £1.20 for a nights warmth and retail cost £2.50. I am very impressed!
  6. Hi All, I have bought 20 bags of Kiln dried Briquettes to see how they burn and what my clients make of them. Plan is to dish 10 bags out to see what peoples views are of them. However, I have not burnts Briquettes before so i was looking for some tips, guidance and advice really. For example should i be just burning briquttes or should i get a good fire going first? etc etc. Thanks in advance.
  7. He doesnt have to deliver 6m3 in one load guys...
  8. What a great programme that was, i loved it, specially "yeah its hard work, some days i feel like i have chewed the balls off an Elephant" LOL
  9. I went at my brambles with a metal bladed strimmer, didnt take long to reclaim the land, now i mow the area every month. I dont think there is any easy way of getting rid of them, specially when the stems are thicker than your thumb!
  10. By planting a coppice of Ash or Willow to gow on your own land then you are not buying it in from someone else. So you are reducing the costs of running a wood burner. I was saying that my Ash whips are doing better than my willow at present, and Ash is loads better firewood than Willow. Not as off topic as you would think!
  11. I looked this up last night, in my experience the further noth in Oz you get the more excentric the people get, the further inland and north you get the people are mad as a box of frogs. The family in this episode live in land from Darwin so i recon they are going to be characters! cant wait to watch it tonight! Cheers for the heads up.
  12. I have found Ash to grow nearly as quick as Willow when planted in drier ground, but i am not sure what species of Willow i have planted! I took cuttings from an old coppice next to my barn conversion and planted them out.
  13. So is that classed as a permanent structure?

I would guess if the rooms small and its all hot already then the fan is just moving round hot air so you are not going to feel the benefit.
  15. The mk6 is great, i have driven a few of them now, love the build quality and even just the 2:0 TDI engine pulls like a train! The Golf GT TDI 170 goes like stink but still returns 50mpg on a run! The best bargain at the moment is the Mk5, which actually cost VW more to build than the mk6. I went for a top spec Civic over the golf as i bought new, i got far more kit for my money than if we bought a golf and also the boot space on the Civic is better. Only 140bhp out of the 2:2diesel though.
  16. I think you will need air to circulate through it, I beleive its the air movement through the chip thats most important.
  17. Just not much space to hold logs is there, but i suppose you could tow a large trailer no worries! I found a landy 130 at a firm in the uk that had a 3way tipping back and a small hiab, that was 15k too.
  18. I think a crane like i have on the back of my LT would be too big for a ranger, its not the size its the weight it can lift and move around. I would say you would be looking at a swing lift too.
  19. I bought a VW LT35 cab with chassis, it had been a refridgerated delivery van for sainsburys. The fabricators made a drop side back and mounted the hiab to the frame. So it can all be unbolted and put on a new chassis if i fancy... in theory. The hiab only weighs 200kg i think. What sort of pickup have you got?
  20. You guys who are seeing your product fly out of the yard, have you increased your prices yet? Last night I sold 2m3 to one the first clients i picked up last year, didnt seem to mind the price increase... which was nice!
  21. Yeah there is a flap to stop the rain going through the bag, not sure on the quality as yet, they will be arriving on Monday so ill report back.
  22. ok i know he has a Case digger with Fire Damage to the cab etc so ill drop by and check it out for you. t
  23. I am a Medium, find the Ls a bit too big which ended up with me loosing the tip of one of the gloves fingers on the splitter!. I am also a M in diving gloves so the sizing is pretty standard i think.
  24. Pierre, I like you 3d header :-) its a clean and uncluttered site.
  25. Yeah i know but these guys seem to think its doable without putting in a heat exchanger Eco Angus Wood Burning Boilers - The Boilers
