  1. Hi, Glad there is someone out there as mad as me for attempting to use a LINER! YEs your right about the gaurd/knife, my spare saw has one though so when i strip that ill be removing it and fit it to my saw at the same time i raise the cutting bench to clear the motor so i can cut long planks. Id love a manual!
  2. Yeah I think Columbo drove a 403 convertable that was nearly as rough as this pickup! As I said to my dad as much as i love it there is no way i am driving it 1050 miles home.
  3. Just been down to visit my oldies in the south of France for a few weeks, my dad and i found this 1960 Peugeot 403 pickup in a field. My dad tracked down the owner and a deal was struck for 80 Euros. We fettled with it for an hour and although the starter motor was just clicking we managed to start it on the handle! I then drove it the short way back to my dads garage, the 3 speed column shift took a bit of getting used too and after further inspection the main jet was blocked.. which explained the backfires... lol The n/s sill is rotten but its not structural, i unbolted it in a couple of mins and a local meal fabricator is making us one for 160euros. It also needs a plate on the drivers floor as thats pretty thin. The starter is in being rebuilt as the brushes are worn. We cleaned it up with a plastic scrubbing brush! [whistling] and my dad intends on painting it in a dark grey enamel paint with a roller. Its been brush painted before so we figure the enamel will a least give a gloss finish! It will be used to haul logs and vin yard wood for his stove as well as building materials for my dads many property projects. He was talking about driving it back to the uk so i could use it but i set him straight.
  4. Old rayburns were designed for open/vented systems. I seem to remember you need a small water tank at the highest point of the system. Its really easy to have hot water cylinder and rads, my mates home system is set up so if the hot water gets too hot or is not used he can dump it into the rad system so the hot water is not wasted. You are forgetting one thing.. having a rayburn will also mean you can cook bacon butties etc and the kettle is always hot!
  5. Least its not an Alegro steering wheel!
  6. Nice one, very creative!!
  7. I think verses about MDF & Chipboard should be added... Until your stove is is hot and roaring MDF smoke will come a pouring but once hot and roaring your grate it will melt and your flue it will clean christ fair play stereo, its not easy! any improvements on my last two lines welcome!
  8. Did you set up a kiln in the end , or are you using nature?
  9. Excellent!
  10. minimum order was 24 x 2m3 crates with the firm i spoke to. But they wanted E130 for 2m3 crate. so E3120 for a full load + E1780 to the main land uk. Which worked out at £180 for a 2m3 crate physical on the main land uk.
  11. £55 is cheap. Larch is a good burner spits a bit but has a great smell.
  12. Or have they been shot?
  13. Nice mixed pile there for the right price!
  14. Oh yeah, its gone!
  15. I am not burning my stock its too good for me! lol
  16. No mate, but thats why i was LOL ing, i was in recruitment.
  17. LOL same here, i sold up my business nearly two years ago now and kinda gravitated towards the 'fuel industry' and it seems to have really got a grip of me. I figured getting into oil and petrol was going to be too hard but burning fuels was wide open. I am loving every minute of it (mind you the physiotherapy session i had on my back yesterday wasnt that pleasant!), i am actually enjoying the lean time in the summer as i have time to get my yard in order, logs bagged, website created, flyers printed, van built, van sign written, shelter in the yard built so i can work out of the weather etc. I suppose its only my first proper year so maybe i will feel different about the lean times next summer!
  18. these are a waste of time and effort IMHO
  19. My stove has never been lit in August before but i have been lighting it most nights recently! My oil heating has not been on for months just lighting the fire at about 7 in the evening keeps the house warm enough for the next day too. My aim is not to turn on the oil heating for our underfloor and rads on for as long as possible... or until i am told to turn it on by the boss.

    Larch

hi, Larch is a good firewood, it crackles a bit though so open fires really need a gaurd. I find it burns hot when dry, but most softwood does.
  24. Latvia is a very big place dude
  25. I tested my funnel for the first time today and it worked like a charm! Used the telehandler with forks to hold the bag under the hole and the skid steer with loader bucket to fill. The skid steer has plenty of clearance and height to fill so those arm chair doubters can suck my b@lls! lol Drove into the log pile reversed back raising the bucket at the same time, span to the left and dumped the logs. one half full bag with only 2 or 3 escaping. It only takes two buckets and thats a cube. Telehandler removes the bag and stacks or loads, fit new bag and repeat. Only issue is really i need 3 people to make the operation run sweet as otherwise 2 people will be taking it in turns to put the new bag on. So just waiting on some new vented bags to arrive and ill get this 20 tonnes bagged in a day or so with no sore elbows or back! Really looking forward to next week rather than thinking of the pain! lol
