  1. Your 3120 has a H?
  2. I just trim the plastic limiter tabs off on the huskys. I also have some with the plastic limiters pulled. If there isnt a spring behind the H and L you dont want to pull the plastic all the way off or the H and L will creep and will move out of setting in time when running. Been there.
  3. I have no clue, never talked to anyone that tried new P in old cyl. Trial fit with base gasket and check squish with solder. The echo 8000 has a lot of squish area to spare in past, so check with new piston. Huge in other words. If the combustion chamber is the same in both cylinders. The new dome part will give you a lot more PSI. I'm thinking my 8000 cyl was up in the .48 squish and dropped cylinder down around .20-.22. Could have used a de-comp after that.
  4. Over here the replacement piston for the updated 8000 cyl and piston will be domed. Here is a link showing new and old 8000 p+c kits. Best pics toward end of thread showing side by side pics. echo 8000 piston and cylinder pics - newest
  5. OP you might want to look into this one over your way. I will PM you the estimate for PHO. It was what I had figured.
  6. 7. Just in case no used turn up for you. $4 USD a piece new 537033401
  8. How odd is that seeing a neighbor on a UK forum. Hey Al Smith.
  9. Send me a addy in PM so I can get a estimate. This is all I have right now on the saw besides friends word on it good running condition. I have not had the saw in my hands being it is another whole state away from me. He said he would ship it to me to check out for someone. I have bought from this guy for a few years now and he has always been spot on and honest. Looks like the clutch cover has some damage on lower front area.
  10. I know a friend that has a stock stihl 084 122cc with like new top end. They just use it for bucking at their lumber company. He sent me 3 pics of PHO for $600 USD and told me to sale it for him. Shipping might be a killer to over there. Even though I have mailed saws to Finland and parts to Japan.
  11. I cant remember who was needing the 070 090 service manual. PM for a pdf 27 page SM work shop manual. Wont post link in public due to big brother.
  12. Here is a pic of smaller huskys showing open port compared to closed port. Dug these up off the net to make it easy to post. Some of the strongest small saws I have ran were open port partner 500. Sometimes I just think it depends on the saw and who has them tuned too.
  13. Of the 2 OP posted I would take the Dolmar 6400 Makita 6401. 6400 6401 is open port. I also really really really like the Husky 365 special with it's quad transfers like the 372xp. There is a 365 husky with open ports I hear isnt as strong in the cut as the special. But I have never ran one of those to know first hand yet. That husky 555 has rave reviews over here. Little bro of 560xp. In the high $580 range here. Basically all the same price range here.

I'm working through emails trying to get you the oem 111 piston specs from one of the new kits. If OP would post some pics of his P + C might be able to tell if can be cleaned up and re-ring it I'm betting it nust have a big pin. The 166 had a big pin. I know a guy that drilled a 394 piston to work in a 166. Let you know spudulike when and if specs get emailed back to me.

PM Magnus on CSC post above. He runs that site. I do know a sachs dolmar 166 piston has been run in a 111 hotsaw. I dont know of a husky one. Just some eye candy to make you want to get the old girl going again. [ame] [/ame]

I know where brand new NOS OEM 111 top end kits are on this side of the pond. Couple of them.
  17. 353 was on husky service bulletins about warped plastic intake clamp. I have SB's if needed and goes by serial number and back.
  18. You would be amazed what will clean up on a piston and last for years. I have fixed my own in a pinch when a piston isnt available for a saw and saved saws for guys that were just going to junk them because they counldt afford to fix them right. I fixed a dolmar 166 alky saw that hung a ring in a transfer. What a mess cleaned up with a lot elbow grease. Oh try finding a stock oem 166 piston back then.' Now there is wiseco 166 pistons and aftermarket 166 pistons to do the job right. Here she is after rebuild running rich first few cuts checking it. Still running the same piston 2 years later. 19. You can do as spud says. But I also found after cleaning up ring grooves and a set of new rings and cleaning up a slightly scored piston you can put it back to work for the cost of rings. Many of them out there with years of cutting on them that way now I have did in the past on the cheap for people. Also the 8000 has a new updated cylinder with quad transfers closed port and piston with domed piston. Lot more psi stock. There is a thread about it with new oem part numbers for the new topend on chainsawrepair with pics. My JD 800 yellow colored 8000

    365 to 372xp??

Carb dont matter. Run which ever one you have. Dont just go leaning that H side like posted above, big no no. Tune to 4 stroke a tad WOT and clean up in the cut. The coils if blue are rev limited and have the rpm stamped right on them. Black coil NOT rev-limited.

    365 to 372xp??

There is 365 closed port best, 365 open port. 372 will bolt right on. 372 comes in 50mm 51.4mm stock oem and 372 52mm aftermarket. Over here they come with 2 different carbs and either will work. Walbro and Zama. Walbros has a little bigger venturi. I ran both on stock and woods ported and I didnt see any difference though.
  22. You could always replace the caps with husky ones that used a scrench. I just finger tighten too, but sometimes one seems to need a nudge to get back off. They have a aftermarket cap here to replace those over engineered POS stihl flippy caps. Just waiting for them to hit the market.
  23. Here is a video of a cold start with my partner 5000 plus using same handle. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVHXhf6UoNA]MOV23D.MOD - YouTube[/ame]
  24. Thats a stihl 460 rescue handle and I used them on saws that I cold start raced or I also used them on saws with a lot of PSI. This one had both reasons with a domed pop up piston in it. It was just a good strong woods ported work saw that I raced for fun to learn on.
  25. I Liked.
