  1. No he did about 65 or 70 over that. I warned him about the speed cameras that wait just beyond it in the lay by, and the paralell road that runs just after to put him off. All he said he does 80 a lot along there and never sees a copper or gets flack for doing it. I was only slightly drunk yet the trip home felt stranger than getting home and watching the walls spin in drinking season
  2. I did but he just carried on. He sort of looked like the bloke in the picture. Not native to england, put it that way
  3. The fastest ride home, ever. I live in sprotbrough, which has a 30 mph limit along its main road. Now if I was to speed I would say that 45 mph in that 30 zone would be more than enough enough, and thats driving with a foot ready on the brakes. But the arsewipe taxi driver did over 90mph all the way up the road. Yes it is 3 in the morning, but anyone pulling out of their drive, a cat or little animal, or a person crossing the road would stand no chance. Would you call it reasonable for me to want to smash his car screen in?
  4. How much was it for the steel?
  5. Whats the cost of 6.5t and O license these days? Do you need an O license for a tractor? Not that I reckon many people would be traveling more than 25 miles away in one, though a tree work contractor came from york to doncaster in a tractor, I believe.
  6. They should re-open old railways where possible, get working on the current rail network, and build more canals. a diesel v8 that can pull 20 ton trailers on a motorway, can move 600 tons in a canal freight carrier and use a quarter less fuel than it would pulling those 20 ton. Also it would be somewhere for all the flood water to go. It would involve a big shake up in organising transport and involve advanced planning, get rid of the culture of last minute scurry to the phone to arrange it all. Modern canal carrying is much safer too.
  7. Oh. Thats odd. This t**t at the council claimed it wouldn't survive long with the stem being bare and exposed to the cold. He never mentioned foliage.
  8. Clever answer, thats what I was thinking. So, I must stand between you and hama, I left 10 or so conifers just before winter, because if I'd have taken some height off them the cold would have probably not done them much good and finished them off (her next door neighbor said oh I wouldn't worry about that, if shes paying you). Also it might give me a bad reputation. I spent a good few years doing conservation volunteer work, but there are next to no jobs doing it. I met someone who had travelled from as far as austrailia looking for work, with his degree. How disapointed he must have been when he got here

    Farm saw

I've got an MS250 ergo with 16 inch bar and chain. Its not as easy to start as the huski that I borrowed but it is a good chainsaw. Them 90cc makitas go like fury, but I think they are heavier due to being built like tanks. the 64cc ones might be better.
  10. what wood are they made of? I saw some made of balsa.
  11. Some right jewy sods on ebay. One I saw was nearer 800 quid reconditioned! I've had a hydro saw on my mind for some time. The only chance I had of buying one of them motors, and I made the mistake of telling them about the hydro saw idea. They refused, incase there was an injury, as did another bloke who was going to sell me a broken chainsaw for parts
  12. Or try cat wispering.
  13. If you've time to be there, why not buy a remote controlled bird? I think now they have direction control and the lot. Fly it around the tree
  14. The motor for the chainsaw alone is costly! How much did you pay for yours?
  15. I am 24, have a 02 plate ford ranger 2 seater cab I have valued at 3000 quid. I have no claims bonus for commercial cover ( though they supposedly knocked 200 quid off what it should have been taking my car no claims into account) and they charged me 1200 quid for own goods for gardening type work. I might switch over to firewood selling, since they won't let me insure it for both. You are right. It is not on. Some will put your premium up even if you just notify them of an accident with no claim. There was talk of a motorway strike over insurance rules and cost a week ago. I am sad to see it not happen, as its not-on being tied to 1 vehicle 1 career, paperwork wise.
  16. How much better are splitting axes compared to a normal tree murdering axe? I've never used one. All I know is my spear n jackson normal axe either stops dead, or dives into the wood, and will not budge.
  17. If you find any scbk, will you let me know, as I would need even less at the moment, just starting out, you see..
  18. Haaa. Look at the big eediot stood under the tree axing it. I thought they were ******
  19. Why avoid rangers? My single cab averages 30mpg over a tank, on non motorway driving at 56-60 and town driving included. On a motorway it averages 35 over a tank, though i can't be certain, I don't use them often enough to work it out. Its got rancher tyres on it, they make some noise. All my mpg is worked out at the pump / with milage, mines not got a fancy computer in it
  20. Its normal, believe it or not. It doesn't sound good though. I took mine to my mechanic and he said don't worry about it, maybe just don't put it on full lock so often if you don't have to.
  21. Ahh so you see. The difference in the north and south of england. I think the north must generally be more hardup on money and resource. That and the people on the rolling countryside of middle and south england are loaded so not as fussy. Suffolk seems the place to be, eh?
  22. You lucky sod. When I asked the forest commision about buying in cordwood, they told me where to go
  23. That looks good that saw. It would look better with a guard on it, though. And a box to catch the sawdust.
  24. Aww I hope it was dead before you started cutting through it. Poor whale
  25. I know! In the summer I hope to be working either for the council season or private season. If I had a full time job it'd be doable to rent i, and spend the time on weekends sawing and splitting 25t of wood for the winter. As far as I know its just storage. Its not do-able, but I might go for a look, to see what I'd get for me money. I might have a grounds maintenance interview on saturday. I'll have to see. The bloke was umming and arring with his questions a fair bit more than I was answering them. But 50 quid a day isn't bad
