  1. She agrees with you Lochearnhead quickest. Her pal reckons Stirling to get onto m/way quicker.
  2. Think it's the Daily Express readers panicking! Missus has to come cross country from Dundee to Loch Fyne next Sunday late. She's not an Express reader.
  3. It's that time of year. We're looking at heavy snow next weekend on a strong wind and folk want wood. I'm fair. Prices haven't changed all winter. Take it or leave it.
  4. Me- So why are you phoning me? Them- The wood's wet, softwood and half the dumpy bag is bark and other rubbish. Me- Maybe that's why its cheap. My bags are 1m³ and all dry logs. Them- but I only like to pay £40 for softwood. You want £75. Me- (biting tongue) You've got my number if you've any more questions.
  5. Coughs......'b*llsh*t'

  7. Different ethos up here. More folk own chain saws and know how to use them. Generally we're jack of all trades and master of a few! We seek help from friends of friends and only employ a professional if someone else is paying!
  8. Pulls ok. It's working on a small estate. Slope was just right to come slowly down.
  9. No turning to be had. Gears and brakes good! It's a 73 Ford 4000. Dave

    Hills

Tractor died on a hill with 10 tonne of beech on the back. All my years reversing trailers came in handy as I coasted 500m downhill to a passing place. I'd only gone and got low on diesel and the hill had spilled the last drops to the back of the tank. Quick top up but needed to bleed the injectors. I was 4 miles up the hill but out of now where came a young lady walker who was more than happy to turn the engine over as I cracked the pipes. Perfect!
  11. Dried, cracked and split hearts on great demand right now!
  12. I can see this becoming an example used against the RHI. Paying people to burn wood to dry wood will sound daft to the majority of listeners.
  13. When was it billeted? I'm splitting beech into 10" logs to dry undercover for sale next winter hopefully.
  14. Aye, it's a problem that!
  15. Ford 4000, argyll field with frost away...... I should have used difflock quicker, I was coming back to a trailer of logs.
  16. My daughter 10 today as well!
  17. Think time to renew tyres is coming. Still enough grip forwards, nothing backwards! Is that the normal symptoms? Dave
  18. I'm a size 13 so wouldn't work for me.
  19. When I need to cut a small awkward log I use an old chopping block that I cut a step into. Place log on lower step, cut from high step side, chain pulls log into step and holds it. Use cut in step for next one to preserve block.
  20. Busy here as well. Hear others sold out/selling green. Delivered to one home who showed me the logs they got day before which were of the moisture meter scale, 40%+. Shocking.
  21. I've added it to my RSS reader as well. Thanks.
  22. I'm into fields normally to soft to work in. Cracking on before the thaw.
  23. Good freeze on the snow has turned it from soft to hard. There's grip in them fields! Felling starts Monday.
