  1. There's lots of Dr bashing in the papers as well as by politicians. No wonder they want to leave.
  2. I had same problem and ended up buying box profile. Don't regret it now.
  3. I guess they can.
  4. The companies stayed within the law. The law needs to change. How many folk here pay themselves a small wage and the rest as a dividend? Perfectly legal but a tax break none the less. Those companies are doing the same.
  5. Penalise the poor? Or do you mean incentivise the poor?
  6. I wonder how far an insurance company would dig. Surely they'd suss it. I'm glad my pal's recovery contract not in doubt... He shot some video and sent it to AA!
  7. A holiday maker took his disco 4 up into the woods and got stuck in a ditch. Local agent for aa etc asked me to pop up in tractor with him and pull him out. We arrived with chain, strops and shackles. Got non stop threats of suing us if I put a scratch on the motor or damaged it pulling it out. Now considering he's wedged it against a couple of trees and a boulder we packed up the gear and left him still shouting abuse. Gather it was there for another 24 hours until it was dragged out rather unceremoniously by another outfit. Saw it on the back of the truck not straight on any direction. He was trespassing, stuffed his motor into ditch at speed but then its someone else's fault if any damage occurs removing it?! These folk live amongst us!
  8. Always difficult putting a yard in a field. Was that the crux?
  9. What madness! I manage the woods on my farm. Split logs where tree lands in field and that area of field is suddenly industrial????? Aye right.
  10. Don't the middle class have to work?
  11. They've got to keep making rules up or they'll be out of a job. They don't create, or produce, they just leach.
  12. Yeah thanks Hodge. All our meals suddenly seem inadequate!
  13. Influx of Easter holiday makers brought on a bit of a rush. 4x bulk bags today, 4 more tomorrow. Happy Easter folks
  14. I've used a kill technique on the edge of a plantation to feather the edge for a declining black grouse population. The dying trees gave the grouse somewhere to fly into when seeking cover. The hard edged plantation didn't offer that. Not sure you've black grouse in your equation.
  15. Just reshodding my 4000, 2wd right enough but all in £650 BKTs.
  16. I agree Kubota, something like a Kubota L3250 would tick the boxes. http://www.patrickedwardsmachinery.co.uk/current-stock/tractors/
  17. Loving the 'how we learnt' stories. I didn't have chance to offer any tips to the driver. Too keen to get my broken collar bone off duty!
  18. ☺☺☺ like it
  19. Young delivery driver just overshot neighbour's hard standing and got stuck in the soft in his big merc van. Neighbour's got a 2012 Landrover 130. Could they pull it out? Nope. They did tear up the drive trying though. After two hours van driver popped around to me. He was on his way 5 minutes later. Landover in novice hands- 0 Ford 4000- 1 I'm not sure what they were doing wrong. Surely you'd stick a Landover in low and slowly ease it along? It wasn't badly stuck. Dave
  20. Last time this happened to me one of the teeth was damaged that sat in the bar. Eventually got workmate to admit chain jumped off and wrapped itself around catcher causing the damage.
  21. Google says... The Ranger has remote free-wheeling hubs to disconnect the front wheels from the front axle when 4wd is disengaged, reducing rolling resistance and hence tyre wear and fuel consumption.* When you engage 4wd initially (when stationary) the free wheeling hubs engage automatically. Once these are engaged it is possible to shift between 2H and 4H and back when moving (e.g. when going between solid road and snow, since without a centre differential you can't safely drive the Ranger on-road in 4x4).* This is why the free-wheeling hubs do not disengage automatically. To disengage them you press the RFW switch. This is the only time this switch does anything. If you drive > 60mph the RFW light will flash to remind you to press the button to disengage the free wheeling hubs.
  22. Fair enough. Not sure my van will be here in another twenty years!
  23. I've never maintained a vehicle electrical system or chassis. Engine yes, suspension yes, steering yes. Guess it's a landrover thing to rewire and galvanize your chassis. One of the joys of ownership no doubt.
  24. How do you maintain an electrical system or chassis?
