  1. my auto immune attacked my red blood cells funny how the body works
  2. Sorry That was a very detailed post and I missed it completely
  3. BTW 40 hours maximum- applies to everyone on the firm unless they specifically ask for more hours.
  4. This is a good thread Surprised how many hours some of you work I'm sure there is no one answer though if you feel that work is taking control then something has to be done about it and there are some good pointers on here for dealing with the problem. Personally I've always thought it a bit of a macho brag when people work exceeding long hours. You only destroy yourself and those around you. The big problem for small businesses is that not every job is a cherry pick. Paul Jenks has it spot on with the relationship thing IMO Try to get into your customers head and build a trust relationship.
  5. I would recommend you get two a smaller 23 kawasaki or similar for lawns straight stem D handle so you can turn it upside down a fs400 for brambles- stihl with cowhorns
  6. Have to say this is a more stimulating debate than the christian one. I had a christian upbringing but lapsed a long time ago and see it now for what it is. Attended Greenbelt once about 1982 and just came away with a feeling that they were 5 years behind what the real world was up to. All a bit boring and faith driven. We hear that there was great wisdom and foresight in old beliefs pagan/ mayan but the reality is we don't know everything and so can not have definitive answers. Usually we do what suits us best. Can't beat nature in all its beauty though
  7. what medical terms are banned:001_smile:
  8. the big question is What are you using it for?????
  9. I'm thinking wait till everyone gets bored then get involved and win. Are there any rules I mean- the last person to comment will be the last person alive so long as the thread is open ended. Is the end arbitrary or does the OP have a time/number/random way of calling the thread ended. anal- bring it on
  10. We do get asked for hourly rate as part of a wider contract but lets face it usually thats just an office thing. We always get asked to quote for extra works within the contract- the hourly rate is forgotten or brushed aside
  11. Never had a lot of luck selling it though we didn't try advertising too hard. I'm happy to give it away close to where we are working- fresh
  12. You'll need a tracked MEWP for that:001_smile: Do it to old cuts- slightly below
  13. Haven't done hourly rate for 20 years or more Occasionally do day rate but you then get customers complaining if you crack on and finish at 2 and don't want to pay a days work= no incentive
  14. Nomix chipman one for us It's nice to be able to cover a large area without all that weight on your back- feels really almost office worker On hard surfaces I believe this way is now the only way to spray- runoff issues with knapsack Issues are wind- low wind speeds only in open areas beeping- public often make some smart comment battery- make sure you have inverter and charge during break times Very slow on large areas compared to knapsack which we have gone back to I would have thought spot treatment around trees on a large number over a large area- this is the perfect method. You will cover a lot of trees on one 5L pack
  15. Inspirational stuff here mate You've a talent
  16. If you price too cheap, you really won't last long in this game
  17. Busy with questions today. Hope to get reassurance on this as we trimmed up a previously pollarded willow -25ft high 3 stems (probably 3 years growth and very many hairy bits) thinking that it was ok to do this without getting permission as it was a repollard. I'm now not so sure and think we may get our nuckles rapped. Anyone know the law on this so I can sleep at night. I believe a clipboard toting TO has been seen in the area
  18. Yes it is very close but not on their land- I would imagine the driver would report as it's pretty obvious we were there. Plus as you know- I can't 100% guarantee we won't drop something over their fence. I'm imagining a branch floating down onto their rails and the adrenaline rush THAT would result in. There are no overhead power lines.
  19. I would like some advice if possible We have been asked to remove 2no. 40ft conifers growing about 15ft from the mainline just outside the track fence. They are in a customers garden. The line is busy My gut feeling is walk away but I'd love to know how hard it can be. Without the track nearby the job would be relatively straightforward. I'm assuming we would have to inform network rail and be restricted but is it worth the aggro (tickets etc). I do like a challenge though.
  20. good artisan work there how did you fit the concrete bottoms to the posts whats going in the middle of the paving
  21. chain chisel or chipper chisel is sooo fast
  22. Is it possible these big cats are in fact black labs- some can be quite sleek and some people do walk their dogs late evening.
