Let em get on with it. It will only last so long. Alot of European timber is worthles due to shot and shrapnel from the conflicts of the last century. The USA and Canada have long term biomass contracts with uk power stations. We as an island dont have enough forest to be independent. The days of the uk paying the higher value for products have waned away. The Eastern Europeans have returned home in large numbers. Generally the smaller producer will keep his local clients I reckon.

Hard to say but but I don't think they are limes. Because the trunks would be fatter for the crown size I think. Is the planing on a private road otherwise if its narrow the dustcart or other larger vehicle will "prune" the trees.

If you have the time and space take em. Attitude to pallets seems to of gone downhill. You could probably sell on for reuse and hack up the rest to burn. Somewhere on here are threads, use search in toolbar and type pallets.

I would bite spuds hand off for a super saw with excellent backup, He doesn't just replace the faulty bit, he nit picks from a mechanical perspective, not like the back up you may get from an ebayer, though most ebay experience I've had have been ok.

When using alaskan mill I always use left handed, I think thats standard procedure. The twists in your arms on big cuts right handed in your situ leads to RSI in my experience. As a H&S issue thats a priority I'd say. Plus the saw is unlikely to kick out on big lumps like that.

I agree with Rob its malus. Asked a mate he doesn't know either. I googled and got Malus sieboldii maybe as thats a new one on me. -

Round here quite a few hedges have narrowed the roads up and the council hasn't bothered. Case of let sleeping dogs lie, if they wake up ignore them and they will go back to sleep. I know someone who buckled an alloy wheel in a new pot hole a couple of winters ago. The council had a dedicated team defending such claims. Go to the media Jon make a stink others will jump on bandwagon. Do a mournful pose getting in to the smart car banging your head on the way in and say this is what you are now reduced to.

You must of come across some muppets, ten years ago I did jobs of that scale, only rope was used to pull the branches away from the neighbours properties and greenhouse and sheds below. I respect the regs more now, leave it to those with tickets. -

I worked with a twit knapsacking trees 10 years ago he asked a question whilst spraying then gestured at me with the lance and sprayed my only non protected part, my face! Everyone says" Its only soap." I never believe that because every pesticide/herbicide has come and gone. Why?

I reckon you will need a gap like Johnys above the heap more than the airflow principle design you have done as the heap will sweat to the sheet then drip on the top logs making them hot from sun and damp. You could make ridges in your heap sides every 6-10ft and pull sheet tight creating air valleys. Should help deter any vermin as well.

poplar plantation - what to do?

Welcome to the complex world of trees. Check this thread from yesterday http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/milling-forum/49040-up-200-tonnes-large-poplar-required-northamptonshire.html Also research by typing poplar in the search option in the toolbar at top of page. I suggest do the felling systematically, i.e fell furthest from access point to woods then replant at your pace even over many years if this is possible. Then what you plant wont get crushed by later felling operations. Also clear the felling work with the forestry commission, you will need a felling license probably from them as well. If you set it up properly in an organised fashion it could be worth getting someone to sawmill it in to boards for fencing boards, again it was mentioned in another thread. Determine soil type and location when choosing replacement trees. -
I had to fit a "freeflow return " on our case 4230 to run a Bryce Suma post driver. The return had to be a larger bore pipe and fittings. If you have access to a parts book you may find your auxillary tapping point, mine is under right axle trumpet on rear housing. Some John deeres are just in the rear housing around top link. I think it will be to dump oil unhindered by hoses valves etc. Try contacting Bryce through their website, or ringing them. They have customers with valtra's and maybe run one themselves I think.
