Yes makes sense. I regret not doing arb tickets years ago. I have never really worked with old boys much, but when I have I learned skills and simple ways of doing things. Do you mind traveling like silky fox did for a bit. If you have no commitments NZ or Canada is an opportunity. If only for a year.
  3. You cloned arborists! Amazing. You will be able to do avenue work and get the same result on both sides.
  4. Retired now then felix?

Personally I reckon you would be better off knowledge wise and financially, working with a seasoned person in the game, some of the lads on here would be great if you got the opportunity. But education in my experience is a slow game, you learn more on the job. At 21 you dont want to be earning low income. Whilst working for someone who maybe after cheap labour. I may be wrong but be careful. Do you have any mates in this sort of work you could help/hang out with. Maybe go on the AT expeditions to kew etc. Network your way forwards.
  6. I tell people dont fit a woodburner, where are you going to get your wood? I have enough customers but not enough wood in the foreseeable future.
  7. Good Man:five: Whilst there is alot of muppets out there. Ive worked with many, probably the full cast. As mentioned in many other threads previously, A good groundie should be nearer £100 with his own ppe saw etc. Its often harder work than the climbing, I dont mean to knock climbers at all but there is sometimes a "Tradesman divide" like the building trades were plumbers and electricians actually make it harder for the groundie. I always try and be a team player. At the end of the day a good person on the ground probably can make 50% difference in workrate as opposed to a bad one. I can get £10 an hr burning hardly any calories driving, do a 10 hr day and not go home tired or aching. With £100. Or slog my guts out 40hrs dragging brash at £60 a day that would be £300. As a provider you go were you are best paid so probably many of the best top grade groundies are elsewhere. Just a viewpoint. Respect to all:001_smile:
  8. I'd have goats as pets before dogs or cats etc, I spent alot of time with them I could walk them and graze them, most of the time they behaved did as I told them. But now I wouldn't have the time to give that i'd like. My Dad used to help me make hay and grow kale and Mangold wurzels. Incidently I have found Mangold seed again at tuckers if anyone is interested.
  9. Where is the trailer?
  10. Yes and they are a bit sticky/damp in that area. It happens around every 21 days. The Billy checks it out and curls his top lip. This thread is heading towards censorship.
  11. You trained the dog to drive on site then? Seen that on another thread!
  12. No I don't think a pygmy smells as bad. Don't pygmies stay in season all year round as well. Whereas regular goats are sept-April-ish
  13. Rammer will be more reliable:lol:
  14. I kept them when I was a "kid" myself, lots of fun and really kept the rubbish down, jump a 5ft fence from standing. Got the nickname ever since. Havn't had goats for 12 years now. I once took a nanny to see Rhastus the gentleman in my Ford escort van. The Romance lasted 10mins, job done. Van stank for around 2 months. Would've been fun to pick up hitch hikers. Check out this pygmy kid for a laugh. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IuRzJRrRpQ]Buttermilk "plays" with her "friends" - YouTube[/ame]
  15. Comfrey makes a good liquid feed as well I have the sterile Bocking 14 of Lawence Hills HDRA fame. It makes a magnificent stink when well brewed, probably keeps the pests off for a while as well. Dead easy from root cuttings.
  16. Give up your day job, register "spuderized as a trademark."
  17. Lets hope you will be filling it with water all summer, as our produce basks in the glorious british summertime:confused1:
  18. In the old days I read recently, due to postage posts they only used to send out the eyes of spuds, on maincrop this should give more plants which means more yield per weight of sets. Sweet potatoes are grown from slips i.e shoots off the tuber, just stab it through with a cocktail stick sit it across a jar of water with bottom inch immersed. Several slips from a tuber.
  19. O and another thing The cigarette lighter charger lead accessory comes in handy when working away from mains. Its an extra purchase.
  20. Done the log burner, Know of others that has done it. As for own land it seems if you flaunt the laws you get entitled to it. However as long as a dwelling of this kind doesn't have a kitchen with such facilities you don't need planning. Just put it up!!!!!!! You would have to verify this for yourself in detail though. Excellent for bachelor pad. Saws on table etc. But you have a lot to sort when a woman comes on the scene>
  21. What became of the OP? Did Mrs B get her wicked way and is now going in to spring with deluxe veg plot? Or is she waiting for you to "Just finish this thing off on Arbtalk"
  22. Doubt it, all trike loving leather clad meatheads on here I reckon
  23. Catch you own water from the sky might be safer, but then what has it passed through on the way down?
  24. He could be a rope free spiderman climber or if you handle things like pavers all the time its the tips that go.
  25. I was going name and shame you again... but yes your right:blushing:
