The best tarps are old lorry curtainsides, very tough and weigh a ton! Can't beat a proper shed/roof though. Build it well and it will last a lifetime - and keep your logs nice and dry, not losing energy to fungus

It probably wouldn't be recommend by the RHS or whatever, but I have planted hundreds and hundreds of daffodil bulbs in grass using a fencing pinch bar, and if the ground is soft close the hole with your heel, or if you're stuck backfill with a handful of compost/soil.

Bulbs in grass? I tried it once, didn't work. Think it was a bad earth?

Sorry to say but it looks a poor shed for filling up with wet firewood. Fine for keeping machinery/tools/odds and ends in, and build another shelter outside. But if that is all you have, then it'll have to do!

Don't know what size of stuff you're coppicing? Have you tried a top of the range battery saw (and decent batteries to match)? Zero exhaust fumes in your face ps don't tell anyone, they're cheaper to run

How much oil does the machine get through in a day? Have you tried it on straight rapeseed oil?

Yes you can run a small pto compressor off the engine, you sometimes see it on mobile workshop/utility type vans (Transit). A little Honda engine would be cheaper to run though, and you wouldn't be putting the wear on the van.

Great, stick some photos up of the field, always interesting to see. I've had the hayter for a good over 2yrs now, it was an 800 mile round trip, rare to see them for sale up here.

I used to have a hydraulic breaker, didn't find it much use for post holes. Too heavy and awkward, hard to get it to stay on the offending rock, if it slid off it would bury into the soil and be a pig to pull out

I can't remember if I posted this or not, this was march last year, the guy was heading from Inverness to Skye (100-odd miles), in the dark, fortunately he got pulled over. "It was being used to transport lengths of rolled steel joists, the longest more than eight-metres long. The driver had removed the front passenger seats to push the joist into the foot well – but despite this there was still 3.45 metres sticking out the rear of the van." Although he'd made an effort by taping the hi vis vest to it, it was on the top edge so you wouldn't even see it from behind

Yes the Draper one claims to use a 30mm hex chisel, which seems almost impossible to get different/longer bits for. But I would've thought chunkier was better?!

I remember seeing that in the lidl leaflet at the time, didn't think it would be heavy enough to break rock/concrete etc?

Planning aside, I would look at come sort of container/lorry body etc (don't know how much headroom you need?) It would still have a resale value if you needed to get rid of it.

Has anyone had much success using a circa 15kg electric breaker/demolition hammer for digging post holes in very stoney ground? The sort of tool you see advertised in screfix/toolstation ie https://www.toolstation.com/draper-expert-1700w-185kg-breaker/p21125 Either for trying to break up large rocks, or at the very least dislodge them enough to be removed with shuv-holers I have in the past used a 30kg hydraulic breaker (regrettably I sold it) and it was semi-useful. The problem was if it got stuck in the soil, it was an absolute pig to pull out due to the weight of it, and being well buried. (I work on my own)
