  1. That's OK Barrie, no worries, I see there is a guy doing that sort of thing on ebay - didn't want people to think I was scrounging parts just to make a quick buck:001_rolleyes: I had around three amongst other things from MattyF for some work I did for him and they have been damn useful to be honest. I would like to see ebay man fix the one I have just done on a poorly MS200, time will tell if what I have done is enough - some are right buggers to fix! Thanks for these, it IS much appreciated and knew you were pulling my plonker:blushing:
  2. Thanks Bob, think the rest of the lads are too busy buying beer - come on, this has to be better than sponsering someone to pick their nose and scratch their backside at the same time:lol: Give to charity and get something of use - what could be better!
  3. Got mine on a folding Husqvarna silky, any ideas appreciated and hope we can make a decent donation for the charity!
  4. I can categorically state that they will not be going on ebay or elsewhere for sale:001_tt2: I have got through a number I have robbed for various parts and they will be useful to me to keep these guys who keep sending me clapped out MS200Ts going, glad the MS201 has been so well received:001_rolleyes: Thanks Barrie, much appreciated:thumbup:
  5. I once had a bent rod and managed to striaghten it incorporating this check - not sure I want to let on how though - it was more blacksmith than engineer:001_rolleyes:
  6. Firstly..Moderators - Steve Bullman has agreed this:biggrin:..... This is from the husband of a lady I work with and thought you guys may be interested in the lanyards and also give to a worthy charity – one we may all need the help of at some stage in our lives: - I work for Travis Perkins PLC. and we have recently adopted the age UK charity until 2016, this charity does some great work and not only needs help and support in raising money but also runs workshops in basis skills, woodworking electrical etc. I have designed a range of lanyards as pictured below, they are manufactured using Paracord cord, it is rated to 550 lb breaking strain as its original usage was for parachute cording, it's approx 4 mm dia with 7 mini strands inside, this is also rot proof. The lanyards are as pictured but can be made to any length in 1 to 3 colours in standard or king stitch. Team / club colours can also be worked out so if you need a specific length/colour then please specify on your e-mail. Uses started off as survival bracelets but can be used for key retainers, secateurs, Silkys, multitools, cameras, dog collars, dog leads.....whatever turns you on! Each image is numbered and the prices are as per the numbers below, changes to these designs may carry a slight price adder for extra work/materials. Payment – just e-mail me on this mail address [email protected] quoting the number of the lanyard you require and I will send a Paypal request to you. Once paid, despatch will usually be within 5 days. Mail me if you have any special lengths/colours you need. Postage mainland UK for 1 item will be £1.00 dog leads will be slightly more due to size, check with me for multiply items, we can also send overseas just ask. All proceeds bar the cost of materials and postage will go to the charity. I will update you all quarterly on how we are doing on our fund raising efforts and thank you for your assistance and interest. 1 KNIFE LANYARD std Single colour (will mail current colours available) Approx. 450mm long £4.50 + £1 postage single item 50p per additional 25 mm 2 KNIFE LANYARD king Approx 450 mm long 1 core colour 1 top colour (will mail current colours available) £5.50 + £1 postage single item 75p per additional 25 mm 3 SURVIVAL BRACELETS std Single colour (will mail current colours available) Made to measure up to 200mm £3 + £1 postage single item This is with a plastic buckle S steel buckle is available at additional £3 cost 4 SURVIVAL BRACELET king 1 core colour 1 top colour (will mail current colours available) Made to measure up to 200mm £4 + £1 postage single item This is with a plastic buckle S steel buckle is available at additional £3 cost
  7. Looks like a nasty seize, hope it cleans up OK - a new piston will be difficult to come by!
  8. What I do is fit a new piston without the rings, place the clam to the cylinder/crankcase and see if the engine can be spun round freely with minimal resistance and the clam/cylinder not forcing the joint open and closed - if it is not easy to turn over (without the plug in) ands the lower clam keeps trying to open and close then the rod is likely to be bent - it works better with conventional style engine where there is no need to bolt the cylinder down but does at least give you a bit of confidence in the rod.
  9. The con rod may be bent, I wouldn't assume it is OK!
  10. Whats on the bench........another MS200T refurb:001_rolleyes: It runs reasoinably OK, looks like it has been running a tad rich for some time and the thing won't stop without using the choke....more on that later!
  11. My brother does similar work and has found that year on year, his season has got longer and longer to the point where he buggers off to Lanzarote or Tenerife for 3-4 weeks in the winter and works the rest. He drags in the work whilst he can - out at 8 and works until the evening while he can and pulls in enough to keep him going all year round - just takes time and loyal customers + word of mouth etc
  12. Personally I would fit a new HT lead (5mm) and a new cap - most are screw in and not potted - worth a try for £5 worth of parts - try unscrewing the HT lead from the coil - I have fixed some potted Husky ones in the past - just need to be inventive:thumbup:
  13. Well it won't be £60 that I can tell you - got no idea what it will be but would guestimate hundreds:thumbdown: Sorry - sounds like an insurance job to me
  14. Wife lit it last night - the big question is - will I get the shorts and sandals on this summer because at the moment, the weather is ccoooollllddddd Brrrrrr and wet:thumbdown:
  15. Just looked at the line up...thought Uriah Heep & UFO would be pensioners by now - sort of thing I was listening to back in the 70s:thumbup: What happened to "The Monsters of Rock Festival" or am I just showing my age:blushing:
  16. Just use old engine oil:blushing: Just don't send the saw in to me to fix it if you do:001_rolleyes:
  17. The insert uses a larger tap size so yes, if the helicoil fails, an insert is a good next stage of repair just make sure the old helicoil is removed before re tapping!
  18. I use a heated ultrasonic cleaner with specific carb cleaner, an hour in that generally cleans carbs pretty thoroughly!
  19. Do are you saying that you have removed the H&L screws and sprayed carb cleaner down them? If so you should get a stream from the holes just under the throttle valve spraying in to the L screw and a jet out of the brass check valve just behind the choke spraying in to the H screw hole!
  20. Make sure you clean any aluminum transfer off the cylinder before fitting a new piston otherwise it will last seconds!
  21. They are breathing holes and if leaking fuel, will have a leaking diaphragm or pumping membrane underneath!
  22. Ah - the magic ebay shed that takes in a working chainsaw and spits it out seized:001_rolleyes: I had sort of thought the saw may have gone in the shed running but it looks like it has been seized badly! The next step on the carb investigation would have been to see if you haev fuel in the pumping section - proving the impulse line and pumping membrane are working and then check the metering/diaphragm section to ensure the needle and metering arm are working correctly. It looks like you should look at low compression as being your issue - lots of pics on "Whats on my bench" of seized pistons. The cylinder may well be able to be cleaned and a new piston fitted. Make sure you use a Meteor or Stihl one and ensure the reason for seizure is found and repaired.
