  1. Have you been around horses which have the Sarcoids? Working in an area where some animals are rubbing on the trees?
  2. 2011 is the International Year of the Forest. Have a look on the link below. International Year of Forests, 2011
  3. Westonbirt looks like a place I should go to. Seen it on BBC 1 Country Tracks.
  4. Have you considered a Mercedes G Wagon? Solid vehicles with a nice diesel.
  5. That's the reason to PM people:001_rolleyes: Could be dishonest thieves reading and gaining info:001_huh: Hand off and eyes out!!
  6. Here you all are hope it helps. Nice people there:thumbup: Marking and Identification Specialists, Eyre and Baxter of Sheffield UK
  7. Thanks for all the advice and concern. Now people have the name of the person we need to find the machine and who is using it.
  8. Some countries like OZ/NZ will not allow visible sawdust. Fuel/Oil lines should be vacant and keep info on serial numbers to avoid duties.
  9. Old - A65 New - 242XPGCAT/346XPG Future - Hydrogen Powered with a Laser Beam for cutting.
  10. Well I am on at 6pm and started work at 6am so what is normal working time for the self employed? Ha Ha. Been a rough worktime in the woods this afternoon with all the wind and debris dropping down.
  11. Vertical axis ones are the best as it makes use of all wind speeds.
  12. Mine does not cover below the wrists/ankles and I have to lose both eyes but the public are covered for millions if foolish enough to walk into a wood when we are felling. Where is the logic in that. Is it the same on all insurances?
  13. A mate of mine has a Serious (Series) 2A LR with a 6.2 V8 diesel. People smile when he drives along with that burble.
  14. Some of the people in the FC/FE have been helpful but some treat the "Contractors" (I hate this word) with little decent respect. We had a site with a 500 tons standing sale and a legal access and signed a 26 page document on how to do the work but the man who's caravan site land it went through said we would damage the stone track so refused access after we had done all the felling. (Lightweight U600 with Mowi Skog 8 so no damage)The local FE man told us to take the wood out within weeks or he would seize it all back and sell to different people. Nice. I hope the whole FC is sold and the woodlands go to the people that have done all the hard work and can look after them. FC woodlands these times are free play areas for the public. If I owned a large woodland I have no problems with public access provided no mess was left behind like it often is.
  15. Like this when moving beet from the fields.
  16. There was a post somewhere else on the forum?
  17. Short distance with both laden and Agricultural/Forestry use is legal. I think 40mph as well if speed rated tyresand brakes and not over a certain length. I have a book somewhere in the office but there is a NTA website. Normal vehicles is not legal and in the pictures the lighting plug is not connected/different number plate/hitch bolt loose/break away cable detached/no cargo net over the logs. (All the items the Police would notice!) Nice Range Rover.
  18. Welcome to the real hard world of forestry then where we have to purchase large sections of woodland trees standing:001_rolleyes: and then the landowners want it over a weighbridge when fresh and the sawmill when seasoned. Tree surgeons have been spoilt too long with being paid for doing the tree work and keeping the wood to convert for expensive logs free:001_huh: At least we can legally run on "Red" diesel:thumbup:
  19. Some offensive treatment of women.
  20. Medical Suppliers should have the item in stock. Clarkes supplied mine.
  21. How many tree surgeons cut down trees for the monies when the trees could be improved and left standing. I refused to take down a large Cedar of Lebanon a long time ago because the home owners did not want it. In the time I called the local council TPO man and him attending a rogue firm (so called professional) had started to dismantle it. The people making all the fuss at present about the FC show start supporting the firms who care about the woods we work in and intend to leave them there for the future. Some of us do have a consideration for the woodlands.
  22. Worse than window cleaners.
  23. The electric version:- YouTube - Holzspalter - Kegelspalter (Eigenbau)
  24. In Germany everyone uses white now and you have to claim back the reduced rates from the tax man. I heard HMRC would like to do the same.
  25. I had a Hycrack screw log splitter and it would go through all wood with no problems. Just remember to keep the wood to one side when doing small rings unless you want bashed hands!!!! There is a firm I am told in Poland that do the shaft and screw threads to make your own version. Google/Images/Info I think if doing odd shaped full of knots and rough wood there is no additional choice to the method. Some said the machine is slow.
