  13. i stripped it down to have a look see and when i lifted the head i turned it over and the exhaust valve lifts twice per two strokes once a fraction when the inlet valve is open and then it opens fully on the next stroke i think this is why it backfires so i dug into it further and there is part of the governor hitting of the bottom of the exhaust lifter does any body have any info on these engines
  14. do u have big fingers or are they small chicken eggs
  15. i havent done anything as small as this but on most excavators you can take the final drive covers off and take out the sun gear in the middle and tow them out but remember and be ready to chuck some logs under the tracks incase it runs away at the top off any incline you can also use a porta power but you need to disconnect hoses and plumb it in on small stuff like this the brakes are usually fed by a shuttle valve in the feed hoses to lift the brakes

  17. looking for some pointers about a kohler magnum 16 on a stump grinder.its backfiring really bad i think the valves are needing reground but it isnt an engine i am familiar with is there any service and parts manuals available for this there is also a bit of wear on the throttle spindle i read somewhere that the governors were poor on these engines .cheers to any advice
