  1. Adam, for what its worth heres my twopenny worth:... As i see it you initally outlined in your first post what you were intending to do, what its practical implications and advantages were to the arbourist and how you intended to set out the thread and progress it, with additions from others as the thread ran. You have done just this so far, and done it well IMO. Its your thread, you choose how to unwind it! (uh sorry!) Others may have done it differently but they dident start the thread YOU DID! For me its great so far and going well.. kepp on and enjoy it !

  7. I went yesterdat to price a tree removal. Arrived at the job, narrow acess tree in rear 35ft pine relatively straightforward. Priced it at what i see as a reasonable £125. Was called later to say someone else had quoted £75.. If all went well it was at least a couple of hours work, plus van chipper fuel, understudy etc.. Am i that far out?? Has anyone else a view to share? All comments Appreciated.. ta:001_huh:

  19. Hi all for what its worth i have a few lines printed on the back of my business card saying price, plus vat etc. I write the price on the back of my card and tree work as discussed, Copy price into work diary sometimes with a brief spec of what to do for my ref.. memory sieve etc... if they want the job done they ring or decide on the day and i say sorry i have to go am busy... Simples...
  20. Regarding the Red ( Cherry) diesel.. It is not illegal to use Red in a chipper or other stationary machine such as a pump, winch etc similarly it can be used in rotavators, power washers and all machines of a portable nature, however when it comes to mowers and tractors the view of vosa is that tractors and mowers travelling on the road must use white. If you have a tractor that has been useing red you must be able to demonstrate that you put white in the tractor via a reciept for that day ie tractor half full of red but you put some white in and have a recipt to prove it! IN terms of storage it is reccomended that a bunded fuel store be used with a Bund capacity equal to 110% of the storage capacity therfore a 1000 ltr tank needs to have a 1100 ltr bund. (a good supplier is balmoral tanks see net!) There are also variations for forestry work and farmers who can use red diesel in tractors provided that the task undertaken is for their own farming activities eg going for feed for cattle using a tractor and trailer on the road is ok - red,, Going for the same for someone else - white.. Sorry to whitter on but have researched trhis a bit as i sometimes use my brother ( the farmers) Tractor. Hope this Helps.... Tony
