  2. Cheers that'll be job one to do first thing as going stump cutting with the 362 and 341. Got a chipper chain on the 341 and the carbide tipped one on the 362. Will let you know how the gauze works and how the carbide tipped one performs.
  3. We still have troops "active" in the Rhineland in Germany and a couple of thousand over in Vietnam and between North and South Korea. I understand the eastern countries. But why in the Rhineland? There is a democracy in Germany not a dictatorship.
  4. Just reminded me that it was on.
  5. Its the same sort of instance as why we started the Iraq war. Oil and a nasty dictator ruling the country. I wonder how many of our troops will be sent over there.

    Uh-oh

Like in Ax Men then. 8 trees hung up the fell the one that all the pressure is on.
  7. We've got a Miele. Bit noisy but isnt too bad. Our 3 spaniels (soon to be 4 [ 8 weeks after 15 april]) do a pretty good job too.
  8. Our 341 and 362 do it. We've sort of got round the problem by putting some blue roll in front of the carb inlet. Its just about stops the really fine stuff getting through. We tend to change the blue roll patch once a week (depending on use).
  9. On one of the estates i shoot on we use Tenax Deer fencing for the pheasant pens. Very nice to use and almost invisible. We've got a 6 year old pheasant pen with the same materials.
  10. We go on tree surveying refresher courses every 6 month to keep our brains fresh with knowledge. It helps us greatly as it keeps us upto date with rules n regs.
  11. I wonder who is going to sharpen those two teeth lol. But what a way to open beers. We've used the tailgate of our L200 as a bottle opener before. It was glass bottles of coke before anyone asks if we were drinking beer on the job.
  12. We stop cutting the ivy clad stuff at the end of Feb as the pigeons will start to nest then. But we continue to fell the un/non ivy clad stuff until today. Unless it is an emergency job. We do have a big job coming up soon but all of the treess were ivy banded 5 years ago and have been banded every year since to keep them clear.
  13. Which is why i am out tomorrow afternoon with the 3 shot. To control the little blighters. Had 19 out of a 2 acre peice of woodland last weekend.
  14. 15. Already done. No joy. So replaced the cap. And still no joy.
  16. JC - Must have been just a bad batch of carbs. Tom D - You must have had the fresh newer batch of carbs.
  17. Probably going to touch a nerve with this one. But could you not get done for planting a non-native species? I understand that it has already self seeded but if you re-plant a non-native semi invasive species. Can you be prosecuted under Schedule 9 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981?
  18. It is annoying when you fire it up and you think "right its ready to go" and before even make the first cut it dies. Bit of a pain as its a month out of warranty so we will just live with it.
  19. Thats wot ours does. Even tho we start it on choke and then half choke as soon as you give it full throttle it dies and it takes a while for it to warm up. On a different note one of our MS341 (same age as 362) floods so quickly on start up. If one of my colleagues cant get it going he just gives it to me to get it running. I have a good nack for getting flooded kit running again.
  20. We have a year old MS362 that for some reason cuts out midcut through logs. We thought it was the air filter so blasted it with the compressor so it was back to factory spec. We re-adjusted the fuel mix as it was running lean and therefore the chain was creeping. It cut out again soon after. The spark plug is ok (golden brown) and the fuel filter isnt gunked up. Any ideas?
  21. We've hit a high pressure water main cap 6 inches down. There was no cover on the main. There were covers doted around but our services map said it ran in the road. Was rather amusing as my colleague and i spent 15 mins removing the bar. We wished we hadnt as the iron bar was holding the cap in place. We were drenched by a 80 ft high jet of water. The local waterboard sorted it within the hour as it supplied most of the small town we were working in.
  22. Got a lovely early start tomorrow (5am. Out in field for 5.30. Shooting when first bird arrives). Won't get any pics as weather forecast doesnt sound very nice. Should be a good day though. Will give you the tally my dad and i have.
  23. We've pretty much stopped felling stuff now. We've seen active bird nests all over the place. We are now getting on with ivy banding as it will give chance for the chicks to fledge and leave the nest before the ivy leaves fall off. We are only going minor works (crown lifting, deadwood, etc) until next winter.
  24. Give it another week or so and i shall have more pics to add. Hopefully of more flowers n stuff.
