  1. All done during the day. Now on antibacterial eye drops. Flushing out with de-ionised and sterilised water. It runs continously so is trying to flush the gunge out. The eye drops are working tho.
  2. Hayfever has died off today but now to fresh problem:sneaky2: Just got off phone with family GP as got day off for feeling so rough and i've got bacterial conjunctivitus. The last thing i wanted. I thought it was a peice of woodchip or grass from yesterday but my eye keeps watering and oozing small amounts of gunge.
  3. We had a Bedford as a gunbus on one of the local shoots i beat on. Burned as much oil and deisel in the engine. It died last year. The waterpump failed on one of the main tracks without the driver realising. Massive cloud of steam and smoke when the driver arrived. We had to then ferry the guns around in the beaters trailer until the new gunbus arrived.... a 6x6 MAN. Very very nice. We still use the Bedford but just as a thrash around. We got a spare waterpump and just fitted it.
  4. Yep, its been in negotiation between FC and DCC. I think the FC would rather give/sell the woodlands to councils as to keep them open to members of the public.
  5. It was on coiled springs but for some reason i decided to have leaves put on the rear. As it stopped it rolling so much. I wish i had left coiled on there now. T'is good fun tho getting launched out of the driver seat as you go into a bump.
  6. Yep. Booze, Broads and lots and lots of sloppy mud. My mog is "painted" in orange. Although i need to clean it off before i can do the repair work. Got about half of Somerset underneath and on top lol. Got no glass either. Side windows are 10mm chickenwire and the windscreen is a windstopper fabric. It'll stop most of the mud but not the water.
  7. I had a chat with the bloke from the EA and he got his figures massively mixed up. Its 450 ftlb torque lol. And the engine is from a JD. Checked the serial number and the dealer said it would/should be producing about 290 bhp. Doubt it is tho with the black smoke coming from the exhaust lol
  8. Yarp. All being well shall be there this year too. Missed last years one coz i was on holiday in Majorca. Cousins took it last year and bent a few bits on it.
  9. When i am down in Somerset i shall get some pics of my "scuffle" truck. Its a U900 with a John Deere engine. Cant remember literage but its chucking out something like 290 hp. Its stuck in high range and has 4 rear tractor tyres. Its a bit of beast. No exhaust to speak of. Just drilled out manifolds and two massive straight thru pipes just behind the cab. It is running a tad rich but will have to repair it (twisted chassis and snapped rear leaf) before the next scuffle in August. Edit: Only paid £450 for the chassis and body and £250 for the JD motor from a local scrappy. Never going to be used on road just thrashed. The chassis is held together by 6 I beams and the body is held down by various ratchet straps. The hydraulics were removed by the scrappy. Brakes are other vehicles and engine breaking lol
  10. Even if it did die at the shock of having its lid removed it would have made a cracking piece of standing deadwood. It wouldn't have been much use for the woodpeckers but would have been a gooden for bats with that big cavity in the middle.
  11. I do but only on windy days and if i am using a gypsy stick (aka polesaw)
  12. Just a bit of news Blackdown Woods, Portesham, nr Dorchester is now in ownership of DCC. It is going to be our biggest section of woodland and hopefully this year our biggest nature reserve. Here is the link BBC News - Woods surrounding Hardy Monument handed to council
  13. Yep. I've done it then realised maybe that it was a bad idea to rant about it. We all deserve to rant sometimes but on forums it has to be a clean, pc rant. When off the forums however you can rant and use what ever language you want (within reason). My boss has had some rants which will last for over an hour. Highly amusing but after 15 mins you cant remember what you talking about
  14. I remember having a 30 minute sneezing fit after strimming a bank in June last year. My colleagues thought it was hilarious but it was hurting like hell after about 20 mins. Couldnt do anything about it though. I had had my all day tablet and 2 blasts of nasal spray. I put Vaseline around and up my nose as it helps catch some of the pollen. After my sneezing fit i replaced the vaseline as it was yellow/white with pollen. Got some funny looks when i got a pot of Vaseline out of my bag.
  15. As the title suggests I do and its a pain. Especially when grass cutting in the summer.
  16. I hate it aswell when you have the smallest peice of saw chip go into your eye and it feels like half a tree is in there. We always keep our eye wash bottles kept in check in our first aid kits. We have 2 per van (one box, one bum bag). They both have 5 10ml eye wash bottles in and a big bag of saline in each too. It has come in very handy but it dont half smart as its salt water.
  17. I've had it happen a few times. Ive even been wearing the visor and goggles and the damn twigs still get in and give you a quick whip. Last time i had to go to hospital to have my eye looked at i had a burning bramble let go as we were turning it in. It slapped me in the left eye and scratched the cornea. Was extremely painful for a week and then just felt like i had grit in there for another 2 weeks.
  18. Same on our L200. Got a 60 amp inline fuse too. Blown it once this year but otherwise fine
  19. From the latest reports it sounds like a meltdown is already in full swing and the core has been breached. BBC news say it wont be as big as Chernobyl but i'm not so sure. BBC News - Japan nuclear: Workers evacuated as radiation soars
  20. Was it on a straight or bend? If it was on a bend then they should have had stop/go boards or traffic lights. If on a straight as long as there is plenty of clear signage then should be ok. And the groundy(s) could have acted as banksmen yelling up to the bloke with the saw and stopping traffic.
  21. 300tdi defender but there is a chip in the system. If it was the standard td then there would not be a chip but the tdi do. Its not be boosted much but enough to make a difference when going up hill.
  22. Although our 300tdi has been remapped it is surprisingly frugal on fuel. We are averaging about 30-35 mpg.
  23. How about a Weeping Pussy Willow. or maybe an alder:001_tt2:
