  1. I was mowing about 250sqm of it today with our 13 HP DR mower with the lawn deck. We fitted a new belt first thing as last years one snapped on monday on relatively easy grass. The side discharge kept clogging up so we used one of our straps to hold it up slightly to prevent it clogging. I've mown 6 inch grass in the rain to a 2 inch cut and i didnt have any problems with the discharge clogging. Spraying wasn't an option due to there being orchids and dog violets under the knee high hemlock. Was good fun doing it but stank of hemlock juice as the blades pretty much turned the stems and leaves to mush and sent the juice out in a very fine mist.
  2. These poor jokes are a bit of a THORNY issue
  3. Looks very much like a desicated chicken of the woods. This is Chicken oh the Woods growing on an old cheery limb break in one of the local FC woods.
  4. Kari is back and is still looking stunning even after her sprog. I didn't like her replacement Jess. Too damn encentric.
  5. Anyone watch Mythbusters? New series is starting tonight. 9pm on Discovery channel. New series of Deadliest Catch starting 12th April on Discovery Channel. Gonna be a bit of an eye wetter from what ive been reading about the monologue of the first episode.
  6. For some reason that fungi too me looks like Smokey Bracket but not 100% sure
  7. In one of our woods the fallen Sweet Chessies are riddled with it but its acting as a saphro. Its only attacking the severly weakened/stressed ones. Edit. Most notably is mainly found in abundance in the areas we have cleared large stands of laurel and rhody.
  8. My dad played this as he drove me to hospital when i was 14. I was downhill biking on one of the local runs and cocked up a jump. I ended up going too fast and was very badly cut and scuffed up. Although i was wearing a helmet it didnt stop me from getting severe concussion and a broken nose. He kept saying to me that i was very lucky to be alive. 9. Doesnt sound like bootlaces. Sounds more like where the tree was trying to compartmentalise the wood and failed. So the harder, dark bits will last a bit longer than the soft mushy stuff.
  10. My sis watches that every weekend. It seems they try and find the biggest snobs, dicks, etc and get them in eachother houses. A smaller version of Big Brother i guess.
  11. I drives me up the frigin wall when i hear those. The tenor is one of many people i would like to hit in the balls with a big sledgehammer.
  12. We have 2 boxes of them. We have the main drill and the impact driver. Can never fault them. Brilliant pieces of kit.
  13. Was going to say Rudkin Vehicle Services nr Crewkerne, Somerset. But bit far to travel.
  14. We loaded up all of our colleagues tools into the back of our van without them realising during the mid morning break. Was a bit of a dull one but i made it look like they had been nicked. Made motions to phone the boss (but didnt) and they got really upset and shouty. I think what made them gfet really concerned is one of my colleagues (started wed) moved the van but roared off through the woods as if the truck had been stolen. Was hilarious up until the boss turned up and spoilt it.
  15. Bark looks like its been chewed by a squirrel and the wood has been munched on by a fungi. But squirrels generally eat the tops of the branches.
  16. On reflection this sounds like what the paper had done. Blown it all out of proportion. I had a particularly bad day and just saw the article and saw red.
  17. Yet more pics of Milldown. Camera - Konica Minolta Dimage Z2
  18. Here are some pics of Cowslips taken on the Milldown. Most of the Cowslips were buried under brambles and scrub and its only come to light just how many there are.
  19. The very bottom pic looks like they are having a bit of a lovers tiff. The oak is trying to split from the Hornbeam.
  20. And there might be nesting birds in 4 ft high brambles. If they are open (i.e. no leaves) then bash em out. If they are in full leaf then i would wait till late sept then knock em out.

  22. How high are the brambles? And if ya want to spray them without killing the grass. Grazon 90 would be your best bet.
  23. How shocking is this. They are moving one of our war memorials to build a bigger port. BBC News - Village in uproar as Belgian war memorial relocated I'm really peeved at this.
  24. Never use petrol to get a fire going as it is so volatile. Only use deisel and thats only to get it going. Never put fuel onto a fire that is already going. If you got smoke that is enough heat to set it off.
