You either love em or you hate em! 3x FS460, no engine problems over three years- love these strimmers to bits 4 x FS70, no problems over a year 3 x MS181, no problems over a year 6x BG/SH86, no problems over a year To be fair I only tend to keep stuff for a year except the big strimmers. I sell locally though and to the best of my knowledge everything is still running with no problems. I had nothing but trouble with the 4-mix, had 2 x 130 Kombis, 2 x 130 backpacks. Awful machines.

FS 410 is 2-mix, that's why yours are reliable. FS-400s were good, but they were normal 2-stroke. 4-mix is rubbish.

This. My old boss many years ago trashed a contract truck, had to pay the hire charges and then buy it off them for far more than it's value. Personally I'd never have a contract hire vehicle.

Just stick it in the shed and replace the petrol if it's been more than a month since it was filled when you next come to use it.

Documents 2 Go is good. I used Pages a bit, but never really got on with Numbers. Simply because I have the excel code in my head, and Numbers is slightly different.

That's what I'd do. You'd want a tap either side of the ram so you can lock the fluid in both halves if you plan to put load upon it.

They both look about ready to fold up. I would have towed the quad to site in a decent 750kg trailer and used that to shift the timber.§

If it makes life simpler, LED lights usually work on 12 or 24v, it doesn't matter.

If the OP hadn't been such a patronising, holier than thou militant animal rights warrior, I wouldn't have bothered... Anyone who ends an opinion with the word 'fullstop' is 9 times out of ten a pig ignorant bastard who can't be reasoned with. Animal rights types are especially prone to this in my experience.

Well I saw these at my local dealer today, tried them on and ended up walking out the shop £400 lighter by the time I'd had some new trousers and bit and bobs Will be interesting to see how they compare to Airstreams. I like the stiffness and the design seems well thought out- little ball bearings in the lace holders! The spikes on the underside should come in handy for forestry work. I want to try some Meindl Timbercats too- soon as they actually turn up in the country I will buy a pair of them as well. I'm hard on boots, get about 8 months from a pair of Airstreams.

Does anyone have any more thoughts on this? I need a tough pair of trousers for ground work- I'm always jumping on and off machines or wading through brambles.

If you've got all the kit bar the chipper and already have your tickets it's a no-brainer. Insure yourself, advertise, start with weekend work and see how it goes. When you start to get busy, employ a couple of weekend lads. Gauge your success and judge whether you want to stop the day job. Many young uns would give their right arm to start with all the kit.

Good luck getting a contractor to piss about with 4 acres when the moon is aligned with the stars in the seventh apex and everything is perfect... You'll need even better luck to sell it all at a premium and even better luck to make a profit once you take labour into account. Cut and big bale to waste is the cheapest option.

Ask a local contractor to mow it and big bale it. Then move the big bales to the edge of the field and let them rot down out the way. We have local ag contractors do a village green this way and the cost is not high as we don't care when it's done or need to ted and dry the grass. As for all this talk of ploughing etc- you might scrape turf off to get heather established but for species rich grassland all you need to do is cut and collect and introduce wildflower seed at the right time.

I think a 135 or 181 would be too small, not enough rev up and go. Keep the weight the same as far as possible but go bigger on the engine. Especially if you're dong multiple cuts to cut all the tangles up, a lack of power will piss you off very quickly. My MS250 is 3hp and 4.6kg. My MS181 is only 2hp and still 4.6kg.
