  1. Perhaps a 'hidden' net in the bottom of the canopy could catch them. You could then go back once every few years to just clear the cones and detritus from the net/tarp. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  2. Looks bloody dangerous to me! One trip landing on that wire and bye bye arm/head/guts etc... Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  3. Verrrry nice, me likey Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  4. A super moon I think, with the Persied meteor shower at its peak tomorrow... Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  5. Looks like merip, tree looks to have been dealing with it for a few years. Bad news up near the crown break like that... Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  6. This seems like an appropriate thread to just say well done David. Your article in the just delivered Arb Mag was great, and the photo selection was (unsurprisingly!) excellent. Nice one, a good example for tree managers everywhere Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  7. Thanks for the update Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  8. This time with photo! Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  9. Your mould is just lichen, and as said before, lower branches brown off and die as the tree gets taller - like the attached photo. Looks a healthy tree, enjoy it. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  10. Bloody hell is that being held up by the fence?! Fell, and if the customer is eco-sensitive leave either high stump or biggest possible length of stem laying on the ground, maybe even partly buried. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  11. Just got an old (2000) seat alhambra, same factory and design as ford galaxy/vw sharan up till around 2006 ish. They have seven seats, and all the rear ones come right out leaving a big flat load space with tie down points. It also has lightweight roof bars. Very comfortable to drive with air con/cruise control etc standard on many of them. My 2.0 petrol is gutless, but a 1.9tdi would return ok mpg. Plenty about, mine has 102k on the clock, payed £1100 for it. Newer versions are less van like, and you can fill an older one with logs and not worry about the dirt! 12. I'm afraid I cant comment on the AA course, but I did the CAS course a while ago. Dr Heuch is a very knowledgeable chap, was a good day and I think cheaper than the AA one... Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  13. Very nice bowls, is the 3rd one leylandii? Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  14. Amazing how those trees are able to just keep holding on! Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  15. Lovely reduction, I'm rather fond of purple beech On the TPO side of things, if the trees owner likes it and is obviously ensuring its proper and ongoing care, there is no need to protect it, is there? Ie, not 'expedient in the interests of amenity'. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  16. Bloody gorgeous, £200 is selling it far too cheap! Sell as you mean to go on, high price and quality, low volume. I think £500 would be cheap, many hours and skill/machine use gone into those! Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  17. To expand on Davids reply I would add don't waste money on a tomograph where kretz is the cause for concern. Due to its soft rot decay type a tomograph won't pick it up until well after the woods tensile strength is gone. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  18. Great work, very in keeping with the theme Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  19. Definitely a book worth getting. To the OP, I think the arb association have just started reprinting and selling the research for amenity trees series which the book you're looking for is included in. Check out their website Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  20. Hard to see in pics. Certainly worth retaining if desired, a tree like that cannot simply be replaced unless you have a spare couple of hundred years! 240 kids on Tuesday - is that a one off? What about cordoning/fencing off the area? In the long run a reduction would probably be beneficial I reckon. Chicken of the woods highly unlikely on beech, looks more like a straightforward weak fork failure from here. Where abouts are you? If your client is worried about liability issues I could come and have a look, and if appropriate write a report with recommendations at a very reduced rate, rather than see another irreplaceable mature tree lost to a knee jerk reaction. Family cars

I'm after a new car as my last has been written off, with baby number 3 due in October I'm looking for something that can fit three child seats and a buggy, oh and shopping! I'm thinking multipla looks (ugly!) practical, but I have heard bad things about the jtd engines, gearboxes and fiats generally! Or, galaxy. Bigger but more reliable and 7 seats, with removable rear mean I can turn it into a 'van' if I need to. Budget only around £1-2000, the less the better! Anyone with any experience of either, or other nuggets of wisdom, please speak up Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  24. Sounds about right, a hedge cannot be the subject of a tree preservation order - but of course, a row of trees can. Whether you have a hedge or a row of yew trees is the key question here... Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  25. Thanks for the recommendation Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
