  1. thanks chaps, i might as well try the polyurethane and if that doesn't last then its probably worth a re-sole as you say.....few years old now, light use really....they dont even stink too bad
  2. has anyone had any luck gluing the soles on their haix boots, or can anyone recommend the bondiest toughiest glue that might do the job? The rest of my explorers looks as if they've got another decade left in them, even the laces!! Cheers Mark
  3. might be the hornet mimic hoverfly yep they are whoppers
  4. blackthorn dats bin coppiced
  5. yep ditto that
  6. pyracantha
  7. probably good to quarter saw the boards - the one i have milled was quite splitty. Would mill another one any day, grain is beautiful and as said really rot resistant.
  8. if you are sure that that is all you need then go for it. Just remember the gravity feed machines massively increase the work you have to do and the vibration feeding branches in doesn't do anyone any good. They are a third of the price and they are about a third as productive. The blades have to be razor sharp so you will be changing them more often. Even the cs100 is reliant on sharp blades. Stretch to hydraulic if you will use it lots, get it on finance and let it pay itself off - the greenmech arborist 130 is a great machine pulls and smashes forks fantastically - covers everything for us. even gravity feeding garden trimmings is a pain cf hydraulic. i'd never go back!!!!!!
  9. i have a fair bit near barnstaple, bit of a way for you. Taken down autumn'12. Anyone else interested welcome too. hit a nail in it, hence not ringed up so you'd need a metal detector. top sections probably clean. Base about 1m diam.
  10. diddo that!!!
  11. ailanthus here...not certain
  12. same here! total pantalooons
  13. pathetic indeed. it certainly is plasticky, but then everything seems to be getting plastickier and plastickier all the time. what did you do then mr huck?
  14. this is no time for yolks......oh dear.....great suggestions guys thanks. would like to have it as err.....strong as it was before. will strimmer cord run into the crack completely and then i just gently clamp it up?
  15. the new T540xp's plastic casing actually is about as tough as a chocolate egg shell. My 2 month old machine slid off the back seat of the ranger onto tarmac as i opened the door and fuel sprayed all over the drive. fuel tank cracked along the weld. a 2 ft drop - utterly pathetic. my 14 month old son's toys could be dropped from five times the height. really narked - the dealer has said it isnt a warranty job photos below hopefully, with a comparison of the same weld on the 200T!!!! any advice on how to play it gratefully received! thanks Mark
  16. thats the one. thanks treebeard
  17. hey all, very kind of the neighbour and all....its a five litre about 2/3 full. semi-synth it says, premium apparently! would you use it? two of my stihls saws are over 8 years old. any advice appreciated Mark

    Gout

yep i had it when i was 20 - i piut it down to too much beer and ragu pasta sauces, which was about all i ingested. you'll have to lay off the sauce for a bit. What's your diet like?
  19. i agree, and after mid march the sap is rising, the shrubs are entering the high energy use spring leaf burst phase so it must hit them quite hard. i layed ash in april once and the bark separated hazard beam-style from the wood on every steeper/pleacher, so we had to stop. better to start laying again in july i'd have thought?!?!?!?!!?!?
  20. the 130 is good - its the 150's guts and body just with a smaller engine which means the bearings and all get an easy time of it. I wouldnt say it is slow - it keeps a nice pace for us, and is better than at tw150 on forks, even with a dinky engine. main chipper for us. get it!
  21. Mine! Just paid for it and a few other items Barry, I hope it hasnt gone! Cheers Mark
  22. correct, and if they fail to loler their gear and you still let them work with it, then you are liable as designated person in charge of h&S for failing to enforce H&S - well that's what a certain respected Arb H&S consultant told me. And i have to go with it since i dont know otherwise!
  23. accurate and eloquent post
  24. salix alba and flat-leaved parsely?
