  1. hallelujah!!! thanks woodyguy
  2. i find blue tongue a bit milky/squashy, and doesnt self tend that well. think i may have prefered the 11.7 hedera which as stiffer might have been better
  3. Hey Jon, spread the word!! What name were you using?
  4. pheasantberry
  5. is your bar straight and the chain equally sharp on both sides? there is usually a bit of splay with the small log mill, but it will plane/thickness out if you are going posh afterwards. if you are using a ladder make sure it is square and the two sides run parallel by resting two bits of straight timber across either end and sighting it by eye
  6. LBJ mate - moth - could be one of thousands i imagine, but it might be some sort of prominent - looks like one i found one on poplar once and think i got lucky with my id
  7. well all's fair in love and marketing....will like all the above.... can you like mine too thanks https://www.facebook.com/pages/Arbmark-Tree-Care/256747557671396
  8. can the tree be made safer without disturbing the nest - limited pruning /guying etc, use handsaws. there wont be chicks yet will there? do a risk assessment and do something i'd say
  9. a lot of turners like the smaller branch wood....doh! its not worth much though. i thought knots were good? maybe its only the smaller ones that dont check

    My accident

Seems like one of the ultimate tests in life to come back from something like this Sean. You sound like you have the tools, the will and the capability. Best of luck and hope you find all the strength you need. best Mark
  14. has anyone paid for an operators course (unit 2) recently - i just got quoted £1150+vat!!!!! jeepers cheers Mark
  15. the light should go out when you press it after disengaging 4wd. No probs with mine - effortless, love it
  16. Well ive just been googling and wow it turns out that that might what i've had all my life! Can I join your club! Always had sudden gripping chest pains that pass after a few seconds. Is that how yours appear? I tend to get mine while at rest though so they dont interfere with work. Cant give you any advice though Ive just lived with it and it has been pretty quiet in recent years.
  17. i think its splitting with ash. isnt that what they call olive ash, and a mighty fine piece too

  19. oh well cheers good info and thanks for the input
  20. id love to know what yours is running at Dave!?
  21. I will yep. Greenmech are happy with what they have done to the machine but I think there is another conversation to be had....maybe my old engine was just a beast with a deathwish!! its tricky. The old machine impressed everyone who used it.
  22. thanks but it says 1900 in my manual right here. I had it running at 1860 before the 'bang'.
  23. I did when I first got the chipper back but last two conversations have been through the dealers who are just being sympathetic at present. I just wanted to get some thoughts from the wider community here. some useful points in there, thanks. I dont want to do the model down, as it is a little beast.....maybe the grunt is the same but the roar is less....
  24. hence why the lower no-stress limit has been raised maybe? Agreed, the draft must be down. I don't even know if the engine speed is down on before as the box only displays rotor speed. They are really quiet machines.
